Promoted!?

Uh oh.

The Highland Brewers were promoted to Diamond. I will be in league Diamond .306 this season along with many teams that finished above us and a lot of new teams that were better than mine last season. This is not going to go well.

On the one hand I know that I will still manage to win the occasional point as my team manages to scrape out a few bronze achievements during the season. I would have been in a better position to compete for something if I were left in Gold, though, so it's also a little disappointing.

I did a cursory scout of the teams in the league. I was correct when I predicted a sub .500 season last year as we finished 80-82. This year, however, I predict that our record will be around 52-110. Relegation is a very real possibility as there aren't really any teams that my roster is better than in the entire league.

April Success, May No So Much

I had a surprisingly good first month of the season and was playing nearly .500 baseball which was a real shock to me. Then May came along and I won something like 5 games all month. Now my record is about .333 which would put us right on schedule for winning around 50 games this season.

I look at the leaderboards and think about what I might do to make a positive change but this is not going to be a season for doing anything rash. I think I'll just save up my PP to get a DeGrom or Syndegaard for the rotation, or even work towards a Betts or Trout for the offense. Nothing is going to save us this season, though.

Time to Regroup

Season record stands at 41-93. We're going to be relegated. I sat on my accruing PP and managed to pick up Noah Syndergaard at a little bit of a discount so our rotation when we return to Gold should be very competitive with

Noah Syndergaard
Justin Verlander
Blake Snell
Patrick Corbin
Stephen Strasburg

Bullpen should have some success as well:

James Paxton
Miles Mikolas
Larry Dierker
Ken Giles
Adam Ottavino
AJ Minter
Sean Doolittle

My lineup is underpowered but I can start to work towards a Betts/Trout purchase. If the team dominates and generates significant points I might be able to put it together during the next season. It will be nice to add the must have offensive pieces to the lineup. I am getting tired of the guys getting shut down time in and time out.

Worst Record

The Brewers finished the season at an ignominious 48-114 - the worst record in the league. I predicted a season of struggles so obviously I'm not surprised. There's not much you can say when your team is 15th out of 16 in runs scored while also being 15th out of 16 in runs allowed.
