VERY generally speaking, veteran rosters respond better to more laidback managers, young ones need more discipline. And no manager will ever be popular with everyone.

The personality is probably the largest factor, but the other things listed can have a small impact. Basically, if your manager tends to favour pitchers over hitters, he'll have a better relationship with pitchers than he will with hitters.
The overall impact is small - like morale, higher or lower can shift a guy by a few points in talent for a game, but it's not going to make Stanton hit like Castro.
