Look, that's cool, I can totally do that. When I play a game, I love it. Sort of wish you could actually call which pitch to throw, but that's a minor detail. But I just wanted to understand, only because it's the way my brain works, why nobody here seems to talk about getting updated rosters, etc. What I'm guessing is the average OOTP player wants the start of season rosters only, then wants to play along a baseball season during the year (not necessarily in real time) and then when they finish their year, they either continue their franchise set up or start again from the top until next year's game comes out. If that's basically it, then it's THAT that is different from how many of us play the simulation games. It's totally fine, I just wanted to understand. Because right now for example, to play a season for fun, I'd want the latest rosters to today, not the ones from April 2017. Then I'd spend the next months updating the teams in the base roster of the game, and start fresh in April probably with OOTP18 because I'm not gonna buy this game every year and it doesn't seem necessary.

Today becomes what tomorrow?

Sort of like the "Free Beer Tomorrow" signs many bars have. Go in the next day and ask for a free beer and they will point you to the sign.

There are updated rosters as of December? But the more you play OOTP the more you will begin to realise that the most fun you have is in the year 2086 with a young roster being led my this 24 yr all star 1st baseman that smacks 60 hrs a year, or the international free agent from Panama whos 36 and fragile but puts up cy young numbers. Its very much what you make of it.

No, sorry, not me. I want purely mathematical non-progressive sports gameplay. I want robots out there basically that represent their real life counterparts in nothing other than statistical ability. What you've described is your opinion. And that's wonderful, but I've been playing sports video games since roughly 1992. I know what I'm looking for.
