Nothing beats Meara, but I have found two obscure minor league players who turned into phenoms.
Charley Massey, who is still active, as I paused my game in 1973. |

Then, there is Richard Colomina, who is also still active of my current simulation pause.

Well, I finished my first replay from 1871 up to the beginning of the 2017 season. I am looking for historical anomalies. There are a few, like I have mentioned: Thomas Meara, Richard Colomina, and Charley Massey. By the way, Colomina finished his career, 5th on the all-time homer list with 779, and Massey was 6th with 769.
Some interesting things to note. In the 145 year history of MLB, Cleveland was the most impressive. The Indians posted an all-time .551 winning percentage, which means they averaged 89-73 record over 162 games. They made the playoffs 52 times and won 18 World Series. Next best were the Athletics, who won 16 World Series, the Dodgers who racked up 16 championships, with the Reds and Giants tied with 12. The most successful post-1961 expansion team is a tough call. The Rockies made the playoffs 7 times and won 5 World Series trophies, but the Angels have a .545 all-time winning percentage, made 23 playoffs, with 3 World Series rings. Some franchises never won a World Series, similar to real life: Padres, Mariners, Nationals, Blue Jays, Marlins, Diamondbacks, Rays, Brewers, Astros, Royals. In fact, the Royals, Mariners, and Nationals never made the playoffs. The worst franchise is the Expos/Nationals, who posted a .365 winning percentage. That is an average of 59 wins per season over 47 years. |
