Have the changes been made in regards to batting titles...the Rod Carew/Tony Gwynn deal? If so, does this mean we will have a screen detailing winners of the batting title much like we do the MVP and Cy Young?

Will this include a new "game_type", in addition to reg season, spring training, exhibition, and playoffs?

Have a league now where we have in-season tournaments, and we are forced to use playoff game type, which isn't really what we are going for.

Maybe this will make it into OOTP 18, improving the trade interface is still on our list

I see something about Promotion - Relegation in the announcement. Can you give any more details? Easier to move teams between leagues? Or even having teams know they are playing for a promotion or relegation, and having it affect fan interest, etc?

Just Preordered

I think OOTP 11 was my first version that i bought, and since then i buyed every version and in my opinion OOTP would be better every year.

As i bought my first OOTP game, i know only a few things about Baseball, becaause i'm a german and til this moment i was only an American Football Fan (49ers). But i like sport simulation games and so i baught OOTP 11 (in January) and i become a Baseball fan and i bought OOTP 12 in the same year.

Since then OOTP really explodes, between OOTP 11 and OOTP 17 are worlds, when i look back OOTP 11 looks like a bad game (no, no, this wasn't a bad game, but if i compare both versions OOTP 17 looks very much better.

I look forward to version 18 and i think this version would be better again. And i love baseball very much, because of this real fantastic sport i'll be sorry that i don't live in the USA. I can't go to the US, so in the meanwhile i play OOTP and watch games from the real MLB, that must be enough for now.

And i'm really proud that Markus don't be only a soccer fan ;-) He likes Baseball (maybe soccer too) and he gifted us with this great game.

Yes, team promotion / relegation between leagues is a new feature. Essentially you can, for each unaffiliated league, define several related rules, i.e. how many teams get promoted / demoted (you can define X by league, sub league or division) or to which league they get moved.

Now, when the season is over, you can have the game automatically handle the promotion / relegation (based on your settings) or easily select the teams individually (for example if you have played an exhibition tournament to determine the teams).

And yes, the AI is aware about its situation in terms of its chances of promotion / relegation and acts accordingly.

Can this and the international tournaments be used in an existing fictional league, or would they need to be added in an initial set up of a league?

Can the tournaments involve players from different leagues across a fictional baseball world?

Forgive me if my questions are dumb and/or redundant...I am too excited right now!
Tournaments can be added to games in progress. By default the players come from the entire world, and you can have the teams set up by nation, or by region, or other options.

And yes, with the tournaments, we'll have some new playoff formats that can be used in regular league or association playoffs. They won't be exactly the same, but we'll likely have playoff formats available similar to what's being used in the upcoming WBC (where the first playoff round is a round-robin tournament) and what was used in the previous WBC (which is a sort of modified double-elimination tournament)

Is the Arizona Fall League included in the game like Independent Leagues?

Pre-ordered. No sure how much of the new big ticket items I'll use, but the game is so rock solid I'm good with playing the new season and enjoying the various tweaks.

Arizona Fall League is more like a development tournament than an independent league. We won't have the rules exactly the same as they are in real life, but we'll get as close to it as possible

I was pretty excited on my first read of the new features, but totally missed the p/r. Now I can't wait until March. Thank you Markus!
