You've got to let the emotions out. After taking the lead in the top of the 13th, lost in the bottom of the 13th on a two out error by my first baseman last night. I sounded like my dog died..

Well, after that gut-wrenching loss I traded for Sonny Gray during the off season. It came at a great loss to my minor league system. We'll see if it makes any difference in the coming season. My wife hopes so.

No, but I did hurt my back jumping out of my chair when my team won the World Series.

I usually write a long diatribe post about how this game is fixed and all the outcomes are predetermined and how I'm done playing it.

Like there was this time when my team was in the world series and I was about to win game 5 and then my first baseman threw the ball away, and it was so obvious this game predetermined the winner.

Oh wait... that happened in real life. My mistake.

I did build a team in my fictional game who made the playoffs one year after we'd fought hard all year to even be in position to make it, having to win a tiebreaker for the wild card on the final day. Got to the championship series, had the lead in Game 7 after we'd fought so hard to force it that far. Reliever who'd been undefeated in the regular season and one of our dominant arms comes into the game during either the 9th inning or extras on the road. Gives up a walk-off hit to lose the game, blow the series, and waste all our hard work at getting that close to a championship.

You better believe I was pissed off about that, so much in fact I let that pitcher walk in free agency and moved on without him for blowing it like that. But the following year it worked out as my team developed into one of the best in the league behind our pitching, and ultimately got back to the championship round as division champions, and swept the series to bring home our first title, and it felt amazing, especially having not done any cheap tricks like quitting the game without saving.

I get way too invested in my games in general, so I'm regularly getting mad and throwing a fit when my team loses or we play terribly despite how good we're supposed to be, or whenever I feel like I've been cheated by the system. I don't know how people manage to stay calm about that otherwise.
