The Great White South Cup keeps coming to me every time I see this thread. Doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo.

A better actual name is probably like the Trans America or Pan America Cup.

I remember many MANY years ago when the current home of the Blue Jays was being built. There was a contest allowing the public in naming it. Eventually it was called the Sky Dome, and it has had a name change once or twice since. What was really funny was that the media caught on to one particular fan's suggestion during the original contest....he thought it should be named HomeTeeDomeTee!! (T being the first letter of Toronto). The thought of it still cracks me up!

That stadium was being built around 1988, and I still recall sportscasters and news personnel making fun of that entry. I was driving a semi and I still remember the exact location (Weyburn Saskatchewan) I was when I first heard of it on the radio. It was a pretty popular story for days. The brilliance behind it is that although the one submitting it wouldn't stand a chance he can almost count on the fact that it is too funny NOT to draw media attention. In that sense I give him full credit.
