How about the guy from Naked Gun that got run over by a car in the highlight reel? Or the fake Babe Ruth (The Whammer?) in The Natural...?

Sandlot???
How about Rodriguez from Sandlot? "You play baseball like a girl!", whoever said that.. That little chubby catcher... Also the kid who doesn't know how to play, then ends up being okay. The "forever, forever, forever, forever" kid too!! LOL

What about major leaguers that played fictional characters in movies? Do they count? Two examples: Former Cub great Leon Durham played fictional first baseman Leon Alexander in "Little Big League" and 1980 American League Rookie of the Year Joe Charbonneau was an extra New York Knight in "The Natural."
Here's another thought: How about rating the actors who have portrayed real ballplayers in movies? Who would be a better Shoeless Joe-type player: Ray Liotta (Field of Dreams) or D.B. Sweeney (Eight Men Out)? Was Charlie Sheen a better fictional relief pitcher (Major League) or real outfielder (Hap Felsch, Eight Men Out)?

I haven't heard any of the Bad News Bears mentioned yet.
Of course, their names escape me...

Thanx, Andymac now i remember it vaguely. Pretty good, although unrealistic, but its a movie.
And yeah, Tib. Bad New Bears is another set of baseball movies. How may did they end up doing 2, 3? Also, a modern movie in that vein is Hardball. Haven't seen this one yet. Wasn't Keanu Reeves character an ex-ballplayer? |

I just put Roy hobbs in Great Escape Baseball. I sought some advice and decided to make a young Hobbs. He had a good rookie year...
