Robin Yount's knee sprain is not as serious as feared, but he will miss the next 3-4 weeks of gameplay.

Jesus Garza is recalled from the minor league camp.

The Jays opened on the road and left the Kansas City fans unhappy. Bert Blyleven struck out 8 as he went the distance in a 12-1 romp over the Royals for his 250th career win!

Lance Parrish hit the first Toronto home run of the season, with a pinch-hit, 3-run blast in the 9th. Al Carlson also knocked in 3 runs.

WP - Bert Blyleven (1-0)
LP - Danny Cox (0-1)

Record - 1-0

Victor Cruz was moved to the 60-man DL to make room. Jesse Conley was demoted to AAA.
