I don't watch the SB unless my team is in it, so I couldn't have cared less. But regarding the Butler INT, there's never been a single play in SB history that changed the win probabilities so dramatically. Went from like high 80's for Seattle to 90%+ for NE.
And regarding the play call, Seattle only had one timeout, so they could only run it twice max. With an 8-man front and man coverage on three receivers, passing wasn't a bad option. If they got stuffed, then they'd have had to take the timeout, and definitely pass on third down (to stop the clock if the event the pass fails). Then try the run again on fourth if they're still close enough.
Unless you want to argue that two runs are better than three plays consisting of a pass and two runs, Seattle made the right decision. But Butler deserves more credit than he's gotten. Interceptions and fumbles are part of the game and can happen anywhere. He saved their asses by making a great play, Seattle failed. End of story.
