This is what I was thinking as well. Well, the first part, anyway. Not the second part.
Since 162-game seasons and 20-year careers are the norm in your league, there is no way anyone with a lifetime WAR under 35, and an OPS+ between 96 and 110, deserves to go to the Hall of Fame. If they did, the real Hall of Fame would include such luminaries as Brady Anderson, B. J. Surhoff, Travis Fryman and Jeff Cirillo.

You could make the case that in select seasons, Hummel actually hurt his team by playing.
It is amazing he racked up so much playing time given that there HAD to be better options available. Thompson had a shot in his 20s at being an outside HOF contender. But starting in 1993 his peak was over and he actually turned into a below average player. |

Second guy: No way.
First guy: Not currently. Maybe if you'd unretired him to get to 3000 hits, but otherwise, nope, not quite there. A bit more of a iffy proposition, where an argument could actually be made in his favor, though. |

can decide about this guy. His wins and saves alone are not that great but combine WINS+SAVES hes over 300. and his WAR is good. but i dont know if WINS+SAVES is a real factor

I would say no. The first guy has a shot just due to the hits he accumulated due to durability and longevity, but the second has almost as many strikeouts as hits in his career.

Well, he's also like Curt Schilling, and Curt wasn't a first-ballot (or second-ballot) hall-of-famer.

I'd say no for both. Their AVG and OBP are pretty horrendous...

the 97 career WAR is pretty impressive--how does that match up against other pitchers? Same for the 3000K--is that high? Top 10? Top 50?
I'd be kinda inclined to no--only about 100 saves means he wasn't really a dominant closer type in his later years--but we need more details about the overall league. |

22. They were all from the beginning of his career, before he was turned into a starter. Schilling's value came as a starter, which, in my estimation, makes him more valuable than Smoltz, who was a starter-reliever-starter during his career. The save is one of the most over-valued stats in baseball.

For the Starter/Closer I would say yes, but as others have said, it would be useful to know how his stats stack up all time in your league.

I'd put him in. Some pretty impressive numbers there.
