They have started, but they aren't all the way there yet. Jones is still a sign that they still have room to improve. The rest of the picks have at least a good argument for them though.

For example, in my fictional historical league (started 1901) in 1912 my 2B broke a league record for RBI's with 140 (nobody this season in the whole Majors had even 100), led the league in batting, set numerous team record, and, even though my team narrowly missed playoffs, I expected him to be MVP. You know what?? He felt to his teammate, who had less hits, doubles, homers, RBIs, worse BA, OBP and OPS+ and only surpass him in triples and runs (and, yeah, he was much better defensively in addition). He felt simply because he had lower batter WAR (led NL). I assume, because my 2B was being substituted sometimes in the 9th inning for better defensive pllayer in close games in which I lead.
I believe batter WAR (or VORP) to be primary category which AI relies on heavily when choosing MVP or best pitcher, like ZR and EFF to be primary when choosing GG.
