What do you guys think about a Q & A? I have a fictional sportswriter that I have in my universe that originally comes in in 2018, but I can bump him up a season since he works for my network FOX Sports. If I created a Q & A thread would you guys create questions for me to pose in my thread (and perhaps others threads)? I would softball myself if I try to come up with the questions myself.

Shouldn't he be working for BNN now?

I am generally surprised when I see someone has read mine.

I write mine for me, so I can go back and see what go tme where I am.

As for the ones I like to read... no fictional and preferably with something resembling reality. Alternative reality, obviously, but not people who have figured out how to game the system to win all the time. I have nothing against people doing that, it just doesn't interest me as a reader.

What are things you like about others dynasty threads who has some of the better ones? I have read the top 10 or so from yesterday. Gerhig's is my favorite daily one along with Orcin's.
Fictional is a main priority for me, it's like if I write for a league, fictional is easy you just have so much freedom where as reality you can hardly write about Babe Ruth being tea total or Lou Gehrig being a wife beating drunk. I also like there to be something I can follow, by this I don't mean the story but a team or player and for that to happen there needs to be more than just stats, stats and stats.

Firstly do the dynasty for yourself and nobody else, if you enjoy it others will. Secondly read any feedback, answer any feedback and hit the thanks button. Also don't worry about the views, I've done that in the past and just given up on many a dynasty I've regretted giving up on. If you stick at it people will read it, people may not want to invest time in reading a dynasty if it may end in a month or so, they may give it time to develop then catch up on it knowing it's a long-term story.

What about fictional and your supposed to lose? My Rockies, Warrors & Capitals were all supposed to lose and they all did, only my 2003 - 2008 Caps were supposed to win. I do have several more that are supposed to win, we'll see if that actually happens.

UK i am working on that. I have stories about all my main players and am developing stories for my game created players also.
Tell me what you think of Gareth Hewson.

Having people interact with your dynasty is a good idea, however be prepared for the questions or answers not to be to your liking. Example being say if you opened a vote up for MVP of your league and you think John Doe should win it but everyone votes for Joe Bloggs, be prepared for that happening.

See now Hewson I'd follow but would want not so much him to fail but the Indians, see its all about names to me and the Steel Mill Colts sings to me more than the Anderson Indians. So even not knowing a backstory about the teams I'm now a Steel Mill Colts fan, big part of a dynasty imo are the names heck I've spent months even years getting the right names for a solo league I'm working on and still not got it 100%

Thats kinda what I want. Would love to have people vote for gold gloves but i have changed the way i do that the past 2 seasons and rely more heavily on ZR vs fewer errors. When i view threads about the White Sox or Cubs i question why the GM traded away Chris Sale for some mid level SS prospect or signed Mark Prior to a long term deal when we know he is going to tank. i would like people to ask more questions in my thread of some of the moves i make. ex. Q.Why trade for CF Wilbur Duggleby $14.5 mil & Brett Scott CF $144K when you had CF Andrew Jackson $225K and CF/RF/C Dan Toner $2 mil on the roster already.
A. Wilbur Duggleby is the best player to ever play the game and while Toner can play more positions he can not potentially steal 75 bases hit 50 HR and hit .350. As for Brett he is my son I wanted him with me. (i'll go more into detail about this deal in the future)

Steel Mill's original name was the Workhorses I changed it since finding good Colts uniforms was easier. Many of my teams are named after High Schools in IL & IN including Anderson Indians. Carl Erskine went there. Jermaine Allensworth went to Madison Heights. I have the Madison Heights Pirates in the NL and Adam Lind went to Highland. I have the Highland Scots in the AL West.
I'll do a backstory on my teams in a few posts.

See I love baseball from the 1800`s to around the late 1950`s pretty much up to when the Dodgers and Giants moved, don't get me wrong I love baseball but wish the Dodgers and Giants were still on the east coast. Anyway the Steel Mill Colts scream small town 1950`s baseball to me, they may not be anything like that but it's why I'd follow them.

Similar to Pittsburgh and has the same population as Des Moines,IA 193,180. The entire state is Endor's largest producer of Durasteel. Durasteel is used in ships like the Millenium Falcon. All my cities are matched up with real cities. Only a few have a population boost like Gotham City and Imperial Center.
The only thing my league lacks is the west coast expansion MLB had. While I do have some teams like Lake Venus (Las Vegas) 2015, Paradise City (Phoenix) 2020, Cloud City (SEA) 2019 & To Kieren (San antonio) 2023 (Steel Mill moves, SM is also formerly Trout Swampmen) many of my west coast teams were already on the coast like Glenbard (LA), Bird City (San fran) & Colortown (OAK) I do not have any teams in New France (Canada) except minor league and no plans for Bezheen (Mexico)

Makes sense.

You should really like my dynasty, then.

So many people here have answered with something along the lines of, do your dynasty only for yourself, don't give a hoot if no one reads it, it's only for your own enjoyment. And there is some truth to that. The dynasty has to be about something you yourself enjoy, and if you don't enjoy it, if it's just like the drudgery of a crap job, then what's the point? I get that, and I agree with it completely.

OTOH: why would I post it to a public forum if I didn't want other people to read and enjoy it, as well? If it were intended for me and me alone, and damn whether anybody even knows about it let alone reads it, then why bother posting it to a public forum in the first place? Why not just write up Word documents that live only on my computer so that only I can go back to it and enjoy it if I want? Answer: because that's not the case.

So I reject the premise that I shouldn't care one whit whether anyone reads it. Of course I care. That's why I am sharing it. I'm not neurotic about this, but it's fair to want to know how to get more people to see it and enjoy it, and to know what they'd like to see to get them hooked.

I don't know what you are complaining about... Markus and Brad have never thanked a post in my threads. Seems like you are doing pretty well to me.

Lately I have been doing player spotlights for players on my team. Should I do the same for other players in the league? At this point of 14 years history I have several soon to be HOFers and several more closing in on historical milestones. While I do mention milestones I don't always go deeper into the background of he player.

I looked in the Dynasty Forums the other day and there were only 2 pages but thousands of threads. What gives?

Have "player follow" dynasties worked well in the past?

I did not see any but may have missed them.

Thanks,
Tom

There are only two pages in the dynasty forum, so inactive dynasties get pushed off the last page as active dynasties are added. Those inactive dynasty threads still exist, they're just not listed. Not sure why that is.
