Portland Oregonians. Kinda sounds like the Star Trek "Organians" You could charge 10 quatloos a head to go see the games, and bet 4,000 quatloos on the newcomers. If you like Star Trek, that is.

I use Salt Lake Silver Sox and Portland Pirates in my league.

I would like to try to avoid nicknames that are already used with that city, for example, Louisville Cardinals. I would like the nicknames to relate to the cities as much as possible. Here are the teams I need help with:

Portland (Oregon)
Salt Lake
Santa Fe
Madison
Louisville
Memphis
Buffalo (might go with the obvious here)
Jacksonville
New Orleans (Jazz or Voodoo?)
Las Vegas (may do the obvious here as well)

Let me know what you think. I will also be lloking for logos, so if anyone can direct to a good place to find logo (besides Google image finder) that would be much appreciated.

Thanks
Salt Lake Mormons (may be offensive or too exclusive, but a good descriptor and hey, it's your league) - or perhaps just Salt Lake Saints - something spiritual.

Louisville could have lots of names. Sluggers is obvious, I suppose. Also, Generals.

Memphis Kings in honor of Elvis

Jacksonville Jacks - Jack-in-the-Box with a mean face and a baseball bat is the ideal logo

New Orleans Pelicans or Mardi Gras

Las Vegas High Rollers

The Buzz used to be the Portland Beavers (when they were part of the Twins organization). Now they part of the Angels chain.

MamboRat, yeah I've heard that. Since a relative moved to SLC a couple years ago, I've seen the Stingers play a few times including the playoffs last year (game 3 in the finals I think). Kinda nice to go to a Stingers game and then come home and see them in Anaheim.

EdsHalo:

I guess the Buzz hat the company I was visiting bought me might become a collector's item now! Of course, even WITH the bee in the logo, I am sure that nickname drew the ire of people, since minor league ball is even more a family affair than the big league crybaby show

I agree with Johnny Slick that Kings is more obvious a reference to Elvis, but when I chose Monarchs for my Memphis team, I did so for several reasons:

1. There was many decades ago a team in the Negro Leagues called the Kansas City Monarchs (arguably the strongest team in the history of the four Negro leagues), so the name Monarchs already has a baseball history to it, but not one of recent record

2. The name Memphis Monarchs had a better sound to it than Memphis Kings, in my opinion.

3. There are already two Kings in pro sports, one in basketball and the other in hockey. Who needs a third?

Instead of Portland, go with the state Oregon.

The Oregon Donors.
