Tried it again, and it still hangs on the third season's empty ammy draft for the two indy leagues. I did go in and change it back to 0 from 1 for "generate players for X rounds" before proceeding with my test sim tonight. Omaha, do you have any idea why this would be happening? It just hangs and goes "not responding". Worked fine the first two seasons.

what about a one round draft that generates enough players for the one round? Not very elegant but should work, in theory. Not that I have ever had any success in understanding how to actually make a universe in this game.

Maybe you could try letting the game create players for one draft round, open up the draft pool (in commish mode) and manually delete the players.
I ran a test sim in OOTP13 that used a 1 round draft with 0 rounds of players and got through about 20 or so seasons with no freezes or crashes. I didn't have multiple leagues running in the universe though. Another workaround would be to let the game generate players for the 1 round draft, shortlist all of them, let the teams draft and then open your shortlist and delete all the players. Not sure if this will delete them in the draft section of the league history page, but that would be ideal. |

I think my solution of just disabling the draft and making all players created be 12 years old and then deleting the 12 year olds is more elegant......you won't have history's of fake drafts with links that don't operate....

Much more elegant
. It's bad enough when my empty SL1 has random National League players winning gold gloves at every position in the pre-AA/AL years. Don't need anymore eye sores in the history screen. |

Started a new league from my template (yay for templates) and it got past that third "draft" fine. Trying to make it ten years, then I'll check how many FA's there are, then I can start the league for real.

Okay, it must have been a corruption with the first test league, because the second one ran for 10 years just fine. However, now I have a new problem.
Going through some player histories to see how the indy leagues worked out, I notice that it seems that players stayed in the indy leagues longer than they should have. For example, one player spent his age 17-24 seasons in a league that is supposed to have an age limit of 17-22. I think this is because he initially signed a 3-year contract (I thought setting it to 1 year for FA would hold contracts to 1 year, but I was wrong apparently), then signed a few 1-year extensions which he should not have been able to sign due to age. I think the game is leaving guys in the age-limited leagues until their contracts are up. Anyone got a solution, short of manually releasing everyone in those leagues every year? |
