Clearly a change was made in an attempt to emulate a diminished offensive environment. Multiple starters ending the season with sub 2.00 era's is not very indicative of modern MLB results, though.

Are the sub-2.00 ERAs happening in 2013 seasons or seasons that are five, 10 or 20 years into the future? If they're happening many seasons into a game, how do we know what's realistic compared to what's going to happen in 2023, for instance?

I'm not saying that there isn't an issue with or change implemented for player creation modifiers. Just pointing out that we have no real-life data to compare to when we're talking about anything beyond 2013.

Here's some examples... stuff like this NEVER happened in versions prior to 14:

Understood - even with the 404 but are these bugs or a design decision that some of us may not agree with? Either way it confirms for me that for my leagues I'll be bumping the PCM and potentially the league stat settings to get things where I want them. Unless a patch is eventually released that tweaks things back to OOTP13 type results. Just happy I have confirmation that it isn't just me and I'm not going crazy.

I think it is very funny that you think the current state of major league baseball can be described as "pitching heavy"......

Just look at CC Sabathia and Joba Chamberlain.

It's all a matter of historical perspective. If your baseline is 1995-2005, then the recent MLB state is "pitching heavy." It's just not the case if you go back to the early-1960s, or the dead ball era.

It also might not be the case once the summer weather kicks in, and games aren't being snowed out.

I am old enough to remember these days well.

The 1968 season was a magical year for pitchers - ESPN

While this may not be a "pitching heavy" era like some others, there has been a downswing in offense over the last 15 years.

That being said, I've just finished 2020 in my MLB style fictional league, and the results have been wonderful to me.

Stars are alot harder to come by (There isnt 3-5 rounds of 5* players anymore). But the middle-upper tier players are much more valuable, but dont last as long, they burst on the scene later and/or flame out earlier. I've had late round picks flourish and first round busts, generally the first round picks arsafe bets, but anything after that has been all luck and development.

In 13 I could easily take a expansion team and have it filled with 4*+ players in 3-5 years, now I have to be really careful, managing my roster, or I end up with a bunch of overpaid bums.

In 8 seasons, I have had 2 60+ HR seasons and 18 total 50+ HR seasons. 10 +.350 BA seasons. which actaully seems a bit on the high side.

There have been 3 sub-2 ERA seasons in 8 seasons which doesnt seem unreasonable, and all have been from elite pitchers who had a career year

Seeing the same thing. Been trying to get my league settings to my liking. Tried using Auto-calc but the numbers are much to low so I've been doing a TON of 30 year sims testing out different modifier combonations to get the totals to what I'm looking for.

What I'm noticing is with the same settings through out the 30 year sim the first you see off the chart player performances. After that first year they decline slightly over the next 6-10 till they finally level out after 10 years or so.

The first year or so with my totals and modifiers you will see 6+ people over 50 home runs and a ton over 40. 30 years down the road you , with the same settings mind you, you will see 1 or 2 over 40 HR's and a 50 HR season is rare like it should be.
