I'm nervous to find out if this silence is a good thing or bad thing. It could go either way really. We could be in for a big surprise and the game could be released in a few weeks OR we could find out that the game is delayed until later this year.

I hate to say it, but I think the second option is more likely. And that's fine with me, as long as it means the game will be better off for it.

I just don't see how the game can be released in early 2013, especially considering the lack of official info and the fact that they apparently plan on doing a beta. It's just not adding up.

So, my prediction is that we do get some more info and screenshots soon, but we'll also find out that the game is delayed until later this year. Of course, I hope I'm wrong.

Well, to be fair, it doesn't necessarily have to go either way. I'm almost positive that they just don't have the time or interest in posting updates.

In my opinion... and no offense to the dev. team on this one... but I think it's just a case of them not being caught up with (or interested in) the modern way of doing things. We're now in a period of gaming where customers are exposed more than ever to the development a game. It's to the point where it's common to be able to buy a game in alpha or beta, and then play it as it gets updated and developed. However, it's also common to still see games going the old-school route, where things are kept behind closed doors until the very end.

So, I wouldn't be worried at all about the lack of information. It's certainly very disappointing, especially when they're lucky enough to have this early support but aren't capitalizing on it, but I wouldn't read much into it. They're just keeping quiet as they work, and at some point they'll be ready to open up and release the game.

I think we're all jaded after the lockout

... Seriously ... Great things will come to those who wait ... patiently ... as for the moment, let enjoy the fresh aroma of the impending arrival of the FHM ... imagine, mates, we're at the cusp of the new frontier of the Grander scale, as much as OOTP 1 was when started out ... LOOK at the Game, now ... ahhhh ...

The new NHL rules/agreement will need to be coded in, though that shouldn't take too long.
Hopefully it will be flexible so we can change the post-lockout agreement/rules/regulations if we want.

Based on GMO's point, will it be possible to run a decades long league (1960-2010) AND have changing (random/planned/suggested/optional/etc) rule changes?

I am sure this also has come-up in OOTP so I am guessing yes to some degree...thoughts?

Any league rules should be editable (see screenshot)

Personally I'm thinking of buying two copies and then give one away one some gaming/hockey forum through some sort of contest, pretty sure free stuff gets people's attention into a product.

I done a page on Out of the Park Baseball earlier in the week. You can find it here www.squidoo.com/out-of-the-park-baseball.

I'm either going to add a section about FHM, or just create another article. I'm getting some interest and alot of views on it, so hopefully it can help spread the word

What OOTP should do is get someone to play the game prior to release and make a dynasty report that's intention is the market the games features. So he would take the readers quickly through the journey of a GM highlighting what is awesome with FHM but not making it obvious that is the purpose of the dynasty report.

What would be better then that to help attract fans?

this sort of thing works like a charm. And i'm sure there are a ton of great writers on this forum who are up for the task.

I'm getting buzz going around Winnipeg...I've plenty of people lined up waiting to buy this game, we are desperate for a new simulation hockey game, EA's NHL games are simply one big joke, I stopped buying them years and years ago...

NHL Eastside Manager Fans...This Is For You : hockey

Upvotes to get this in front of Reddit's hockey board would be appreciated.

Is there online-league mode with 30GM capability?

If they're following OOTP baseball then yes you should be able to have an on-line league with each team run by a human GM.

I was playing around with a video editor that I got and decided to try something with FHM. Keep in mind this is the first project I have actually done making a video from scratch and this is far from perfect but I tried.

Tran (member here) also made a similar promotional type video way back when for one of the online leagues. Very well done, very excited for an online community.

History Will Be Made SSHL EHM.m4v - YouTube

We have started the workings of an online league that will ideally run about 65 GMs...

First come first serve for the first 30 NHL teams, and then the CHL and KHL will be filled, and debating on euro leagues. Just not sure how many people we can get for them.

New GMs will have to start in CHL/Euro where there is an opening. If you get fired from NHL you will have to find your own next job, and CHL gms can apply for the now open NHL position. Should be like a MMO for online hockey

There is no reason why game wouldn't support such a feature from what we've heard and should be a ton of fun!
