Yeah good point. I *think* I was thinking about just shuffling each time. Other things, like the ones you mention might work. There also needs to be sorta "good sport" rules about not undoing things immediately (IE: If you are forced to sign the most expensive pitcher, you should have to retain him for at least one full year).

Also, I *think* i thought of the category for Diamonds. How about "Trade Deadline transactions"

More Diamonds

J - Ask manager/bench coach for pitching rotation. Reverse the order of the rotation (1 to 5, 2 to 4, 3 stays 3 in 5 man rotation) and select "Always start highest rested". Do this for one month determined by die roll.

T - Fill starting rotation with pitchers with the highest potential ratings on roster with a stamina over a 2 on a 20 scale. Do this for one month determined by die roll.

9 - Fill starting rotation with the pitchers with the highest stamina ratings. Do this for one month determined by die roll.

For all of the above, have spot starter % set to 0. Redo if SP goes on DL. If a SP is injured and can't make a start, the only way to have another take his spot that isn't in the rotation already (even for a DTD injury) is to DL him and reperform the task.

It's a good idea for people who play with rosters. I play GM and let the managers run my rosters but perhaps I should add an optional list for people who would like this sort of thing as well. Perhaps an alternate list.

The managers will be busy as you will have lots of slots that will have the back-up playing every 2nd game. It's fun to see how the AI adjusts line-ups with multiple back-ups starting.

Last One (for now)

5 Clubs - Reduce scouting and Player Dev budgets to 1/4 of the league average. If budget is already lower than 1/4 of league average, reduce to zero.

Cool idea. I do these sorts of things in my leagues. Never with a deck of cards, though. Good Luck!

This is a brilliant idea... I'm planning on starting a new game to write a Dynasty Report about, and I may use a modified version of this (to give myself some interesting storylines).

If I come up with any good ones, I'll be sure to post them here.

Somewhere in this, no trade clauses to a free agent needs to be in here

As long as it came with an off switch, I'd love to see this added on.

Jack of Hearts: "Clubhouse poison": Trade the unhappiest player on the team. Have the owner give a ranting interview about "malcontents" the day before the trade, linking the traded player to the label of "clubhouse poison". If there are multiple players at the same unhappiness rank, trade all of them.

Ten of Hearts: "Hometown hero": Give the most popular player on your team in terms of local popularity a 25 percent salary boost. (But not above the maximum salary in the game). Add three more years to his contract, even if he's 40 and clearly can't play anymore. If there are multiple players at that level of popularity, well, the more the merrier! Have the owner coin some awkward name for this player (or collective group of players).

How about: 2 of Hearts -- choose a starting player to "Delonte West" another starting player. In the interest of team chemistry, you must immediately trade one or the other to your rival using "Make This Work Now!"

Give the cuckold-ee/er a new nickname to reflect his status.

There's an easy way to "exploit" this by picking a crappy player and trading him.

I figured a "starter" would be painful enough to lose, and I didn't want to fall into the trap of always hitting the manager where it hurts most, like "your stud prospect" or "your Ace."

Plus, all of these are self-imposed; the degree to which you follow your own rules is the degree to which you do or don't "exploit" it. I mean, in any game you can turn on Commish mode and build a super power the Steinbrenners would cream their jeans over, so I don't think people are starved for ways to "game" the game. I've always considered OOTPers to be a principled lot, like golfers who never pull out the foot wedge as a matter of principle.

But yeah, you're right.

You make a good point. I am editting the 2's to all be Wild Cards. You draw a 2, you can decide to draw again, you can decide to draw a bunch of cards, you can decide to get a season full of your own desires being accomplished instead of someone elses.

That means you get a 7.6% chance of not getting kicked in nuts by this mechanic. I like that. Feel free to change those spots in your personal games if you try this when it's done. It's obviously customizable to your own preferences. We just wanted to give someone a place to start.

8 of Hearts: Trade your youngest, best player to your division rival for their worst, most overpaid player.

3 spades - "Where in the world did they find this guy?" - Sign any free agent to a multi-year deal from a country with non-existent baseball quality.

There is two of the "Sign a free agent position player (determined by homeruns)

Quote:
♠J --- Sign best free agent position player (determined by homeruns)
Quote:
♠7 --- Sign best free agent position player (determined by home runs)
Of course, unless you actually mean "home runs" as runs scored at home, but I doubt that's what you were going for...

Really cool idea, though!
