The Forest City Owls are from Forest City, North Carolina. (Wikipedia tells me that Forest City was originally named Burnt Chimney: why would people change a unique name like Burnt Chimney to something as boring as Forest City?) They play in the Coastal Plain League, a collegiate summer league, and they have a marvelous little logo.
The Walla Walla Sweets also play in a collegiate summer league, the West Coast League. Walla Walla is located in eastern Washington, and the name refers to the town's famous sweet onions. The Lubbock Crickets named themselves after Buddy Holly's band. Holly was born in Lubbock, Texas, and his band was named the Crickets. The logo is my best attempt to trace the logo pictured here. Before they were named the Stormchasers, Omaha's minor league team was known simply as the Omaha Royals. But for three years in the late 90s, they were renamed the Omaha Golden Spikes. The last one is simply a colored-in version of a drawing that I found, at random, on the web. Here. I used the colors of the Colorado Rockies, and drew my own pinstripes. I'm pretty happy with the result. |

It's a double-dose of logo posts today!
I love to follow the guys at The Clink Room, which is the blog associated with Brandiose. Brandiose has designed numerous minor league team logos, but what's exciting is that they do a lot of blogging at The Clink Room, sharing sketches and talking about design work. It's a fun blog to follow. Anyway, I really liked one of their alternate logos to the Clearwater Threshers, the Class A affiliate for the Philadelphia Phillies. The Albany Dutchmen play in the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League. Love the chin. The North Shore Navigators play in the Futures Collegiate Baseball League. They are based in Lynn, Massachusetts, a city only about 10 miles north of Boston. The logo comes from here: the web page is from a designer's gallery, and seems to indicate that he was part of a potential redesign of "High Seas Harry" (the Navigators mascot, and source of this logo). Unfortunately, I can't find this logo anywhere, so I guess his redesign didn't stick: that's a shame, because it's a wonderful logo. The last logo is from the Licking County Settlers. They play in the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League, and are located in Newark, Ohio, a town just east of Columbus. Last edited by omniart; 04-22-2013 at 10:37 PM. |

Would love to see some of the uniforms for these teams. More minor league team possibilities the better.
