Glad we've got a name and the wheels are in motion.

Although for some reason I would have loved Rinkside Hockey manager.

Has a better sound to it.

I understand that the name will not appeal to everyone but it is the game that counts, the name is just words on the screen.
after the game gets established as a contender, then you're right, the name will not matter anymore. But the name will carry weight and mean something then if it doesn't do anything for people now.

Name makes perfect sense. Great job!!

Assuming season starts on time, the release date may be too late for me to purchase this year..........although with the work stoppage looming, maybe the release date will coincide with the start of the real NHL season. Same thing happened with OOTP a couple years ago with a June release that had me skip a year of OOTP. I enjoy playing along with the real NHL season. I guess I'm the weird one on these forums.

Can't wait!!

It appears you haven't been following the news lately. Lockout is official today, NHL and NHLPA are not talking today either. They are also very far apart on deciding on player revenues, so i think given the information FHM devs have predicted it quite well. If the lockout isn't over by Decemeber or early Jan (which we're hoping the season will start then) the hockey season will be lost...and that is a possibility right now. Dec/Jan is almost wishful thinking but the players will begin to fold soon enough

I doubt the players will be folding this time. They folded last time, and what did it get them? A 24% pay cut and a salary cap. Things which the NHL said would put it onto a sustainable fiscal course. Things which the NHL owners themselves wanted. And yet here they are again, crying poor, and asking for yet more concessions from the players. Once bitten, twice shy. The players aren't having any of it this time, and they've got a guy at the helm of the union who knows a thing or two about the necessity of the players sticking together and how to navigate tough situations.

It is true the NHL does face some financial issues. But those issues are entirely the league's own fault. They are the result of the league stupidly and recklessly over-expanding in the 1990s, adding questionable markets in order to pocket quick expansion fee cash. Add to that minimal revenue sharing, ensuring those questionable markets would be struggling financially.

Liking the logo. As was said, the initials are the same as a British "lad's mag", but oh well.

I've been following the news........hence I made the mention on my post Friday that a lockout was looming......which then happened on Saturday. Anyway, the rest of your comments make sense. Let's hope for a Jan 1 release with a Jan 1 NHL start date!!!

OOTP shares its initials with a certain Harry Potter book. This too, will pass.

Hurray!

Yay! A name and a projected date! I can hardly wait. I am so anxious for some hockey.

By the way, I like the name. It's fitting for a management game.

a new target audience? Seems like it was planned well

I think they should drop "Manager" and just make it Franchise Hockey 2013 :P

As I understand it, there were difficulties with the chosen name (it had already been used).

As I said somewhere, we had Behind the Bench first, everything was set up and then we had to change it last minute.

I was mostly joking

Eastside hockey manager made no sense either but it got the job done.

I will buy the game no matter what.

I personally liked, Out Of The Rink Hockey Manager myself, but a name is just some letters on the screen, right?
