Knowledge is power! I see you did figure it out. Now you are both more knowledgeable and more powerful than you were 20 minutes ago.

OK...I'm pretty technically literate, but this PM thing has me baffled. I continue to get this message:

leafs.nation, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:
  1. Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
  2. If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.
Any help would be appreciated so that I can get the DB link. Thanks!

You are a new user, new users probably have to wait till they can get PMs.

OK...in the meantime, how do I get the link for the DB? And how long do I have to wait?

Spritze:

I am doing a replay from 1901. I am now using OOTP13. I was using your DB for OOTP12 and when the amateur draft started in 1925 it only had 21 players in the draft pool. Now I have added your DB for OOTP13. How can I update the draft pool to include more players who turned 18 in 1925??

Thanks...

1925 should have about 200 players debuting so I'm thinking your game went haywire.

Back up to your last save and switch to a currenter db?

The most current DB is yours for OOTP13. Unfortunately, my last back-up is from a long time ago. I guess my game is done. A lot of time down the tubes!!!

Last save not last backup. They are different things. By default the game saves every Dec 31st.

Where is that last save located? I can't seem to find it. Also, at this point what I have done is to load your DB and then manually import most of the important players for 1925. 1926 and future years should import normally.

Jeff

PS I have a stupid question. Will the DB work for OOTP14? I think I know the answer!!

At this moment it is OOTP14 compatible. If something changes in 14 I'll change the db to match.

Save game is on the first or second menu on the left. I don't have the game in front of me as I am at work.

Hi Spritze...Sorry to be a pest, but for the life of me I can't find a save file that you mentioned.

So what is the best way to set up a new game with this database? Real stats vs neutralized? Potential based on career totals vs 3 year averages recalculated every year or peak seasons?

Here is what I am trying to do:

-Start season in 1890 with a draft
-I want all players to be in the draft at a young age, including asian and black players, which is why I love this database
-Idealy I wanted players to progress on their own but based on how they did in real life. But I did not want injuries to effect their potential, for instance Griffey going downhill in Cincinatti because of constant issues, I want the game to base his potential on his prime which is why I was thinking "peak seasons" but then I don't really want a Roger Maris to be a top 10 all time player because of that... If I recalculate then someone like Griffey will fall apart just like he did in real life.

any suggestions on what settings to use?
I wish there was a "Based on career" for potential that used their AVERAGES per at bat to calculate, so players who had careers cut short would not be hurt because of lower career numbers.

I use 3 year recalc and Griff had 686 HR's last time so Cincinnati didn't mess with him too much.

What is the difference between loading the database from the "master" file versus the .obd (or whatever the extension is)?

I understand if I load from the master file I can edit stuff myself because it will then read each file in that folder, but if I load by .obd it doesn't use any of those files because its all compiled in that single file. But are there advantages to using one over the other in the game?

thanks,
