I'll start the game properly, in the NHL if that's going to be the only league at first. Probably with Boston and try beat my 20-62 record I set when I first tried to play EHM without knowing what to do!

Other then that I'll make a European league for sure. Hopefully the KHL/SM-LIIGA or some Euro league's will make the game properly though. Maybe not at first but in time.

NHL only, historical league starting in the 1967 expansion season. GM'ing and coaching "The Broad Street Bullies" !!!!!

If the first version lets me do this - I'm planning on creating a fictional structure for the NHL but using historical players. I'll start in 1947-48 and come forward from there periodically expanding the league as I go until i get to the present day.

All of the above.

I have my hopes set on an OOTP like experience for hockey, rather than the EHM experience. While I do continue to play Football Manager and EHM, there is something special about the way OOTP lets you break out of the bounds of the 'real world' in a way those other games don't.

Modern NHL, then maybe some kind of 90s NHL if it's there, then maybe a dynasty starting overseas.

I'll just play the default modern day NHL and hope there's a concurrent real life NHL to compare the stats to, so I can complain about the player ratings!

If OOTP is anything to go by I will most likely play the game obsessively to the detriment of many other aspects of my daily life.

It must be a KHL game with Avangard, no doubts there. If the game allows I would also create a Champion's League type of competition, and a more complex Victoria Cup. Oh, the possibilities...

Me having such a fascination for promotion/relegation leagues, you can expect I'd create a large fictional pyramidal system, a la English football league system featuring hundreds of teams worldwide. And start at the lowest level. And suck at promoting all the way up just as in Football Manager

That is one of the major features that I want to have in my fictional world league that I'm hoping is possible to create.

That really is an interesting idea! Would you be including NHL clubs?

GM the Leafs in the 1967-68 NHL season then move forward. See if I can get Gretzky on the Leafs and bring in Gilmour a few years earlier.

Yes, of course! I'd simply scrap all of the current leagues and structures and reassign the teams in the various leagues included in the pyramid, higher or lower according to the original calibre of the team. So, the NHL teams would occupy the top of the pyramid (with the Stanley Cup becoming the championship trophy of the elite league) and I'd add levels and sublevels to include all of the other north american, european and asian pro teams, but also teams from smaller hockey nations such as Turkey, Mongolia or Ireland, for instance.

At this point I'm not sure what to do with the current junior systems. I really like the traditional european way where teams develop their own talents, so I might settle for that and scrap drafts altogether. But I might also create a large junior system meant to provide with youngsters for many level-specific drafts... many interesting possibilities here. The possibilities offered by the game will play a role in my final decision, of course.

I'd imagine no... because it wouldn't be seen as an 'important league' which is fair enough. Hopefully though because there is us British fans on here they've at least thought about it
