I'm going to make a college league for my usual English Baseball League set-up. It'll have 8 regional leagues with a national playoff.

I just plan on doing an 1871-present world, which will work fantastic now with associations! I've worked on in for every version but I haven't really been able to pull it off until now.

I'm sure I'll also play around with a world league or something now that I can. Or change my Great Lakes league or Michigan league so they use associations. Not sure yet.

Me too, I simmed out a history for an alternate US league but now if they can be associated rather than divisions of a single league it will be much, much more what I wanted. I'll probably re-sim from the beginning.

I've also thought of having it be one of four international leagues (32 teams each) but I'm afraid the file size would be so huge it would end up unstable.

I think I'm going to set up a Nordic Cup league, with national leagues for each country and a big tournament at the end of the year. I won't be able to do national all-star teams in a tournament yet easily but everything else should be doable.

I already set up my league where players are drafted into one of 10 international leagues & enter free agency after two years, to be signed by a "master" league, but since I found a few flaws in my initial run with the league and needed to reboot with a couple changes, I'm waiting until 13 comes out to fix it and get it going again with league associations.

One thing that I've always wanted to do is to have a college feeder league system where some of the conferences are stronger than others (much like real life).

One way that this might be possible is to create each conference as a separate league. That way, you can adjust the PCMs for each league, making some of them stronger than others.

Unfortunately, it looks I won't quite be able to accomplish this just yet in OOTP 13. There are two reasons for this. One, it sounds like OOTP 13 will not allow feeder leagues to be associated. Second, Markus has confirmed that OOTP 13 will not support regular season inter-league play between teams in two associated leagues.

Still, I'm pretty excited for league associations and I will have to think of an interesting way to use them when the game comes out.

I think this is where I will start now.

The Official Site of the International Baseball Federation

An IBAF league with a world cup! This would be a monster league and use all those countries with different baseball levels for something more than occasionally finding a crappy prospect from Afghanistan. Evidently this goes back to 1950 with the foundation of the European group in the current IBAF.

That's precisely where I'm starting as well. Having the ability to set up & execute playoff tourneys between league champions will be awesome, and it'll be perfect in v. 14, when we'll be able to add WBC type tourneys to the mix as well. Can't wait.

Me Three

I put countless hours into working out a world league (40 countries) for OOTP 12, when a world playoff of course meant each country was a division, not a league. There were separate feeder leagues for each country to make sure the number of players was proportional to the number of teams (since I forbade foreign players to make each country feel like its own league). It was going to be a wondrous monstrosity of precariously balanced work-arounds ... all to simulate what OOTP 13 makes automatic.

So ... IBAF it is. I play on my laptop, so I think I'll only include the top 13 countries (those with major leagues listed at the top of the IBAF website, including Canada). I want 16 teams in the world playoff, so I think that means more than one league in the U.S., and/or more leagues in Europe to keep Italy and the Netherlands company. Does anyone know if anyone in Germany knows about baseball?

Well there was this German guy I met in a bar and he gave me tips on hitting once. For those of you who never played In the Park Baseball there was a feature to go to the bar. Sometimes Markus would appear in the bar and give you tips over a pint.

I will have to wait and see how some of the association rules look when the game comes out, to determine what I need to do. I'm sure I'll do something involving my World League that I've been running the last two years, and maybe have an association of smaller leagues at a lower level.

hopefully i can join all my feeder leagues together again, and they get populated correctly. i currently have to have a separate league for every country, because if i set it to 0 foreigners everyone is swiss (or whatever the default league country is) or the teams are just a mish-mash of people from all the countries in the league.

it would be nice if feeder leagues were not joined at the hip to a parent league, so you could set all the particulars separately from the major league. and feeder players would just automatically "apply" to be in a draft that they think they can play in. or they could choose to go to college (a team in the universe, not a hidden team) instead.
