Fook yeah.
I have 1 final option for you to try, I think this worked in a prior league but this was 11 not 12. Zero out all facial hair options. save. maybe even close out the game and reopen it, sim a day, and then re do your facial hair options and see if anyone gets facial hair after a few days worth of playing/simming. I know on 11 i used to have a problem where players would lose the hair every few weeks, then i would check the facial hair everything would be at 0 I would hit 1 for all facial hair leaving the no beard at 70. After i redid my players and played games i would see misc players with facial hair.
Dumb question time. These are fictional players and not real players correct?

Yes, it's fictional. Thanks! I'll give that a try.

I tried that and quit OOTP. I opened it back up and simmed a month. I went back into the facial hair settings to find them already reset to the defaults!

baffled now.....ok I know you know OOTP but I am just trying to cover all bases here...when you set them all to 0 did you hit enter after each one and then save then quit? Not sure if all that matters, but thats what I do when I change the hair values.

This is a bit off topic, but does anyone know roughly what percentage of professional players have facial hair?

no clue, figured there would be a website listing the most popular athletes with facial hair or something to that effect but i cant find 1. I would guess less then 35% of the 4 major sports. Seems hockey players all have beards especially when the playoffs get near. Basketball players seem to have the least. Baseball is probably #3 NFL i would guess is #2.

Ok, I went back and double checked and apparently I had not hit enter, but even so, when I made sure I'd done that right, the numbers were how they should be but I am still not getting facial hair.

Well i have run out of ideas...hopefully Andreas has a solution.

You said you have no problem getting hair on new leagues, that its just this 1 or any existing league?

You guys tried everything already.

I would need the league files to find the problem.

Would you look at my league file then to try to find out why faces changes every time a FA changes teams and I update his picture?

I've posted in reply to a couple of your posts with no reply.

Thanks, Andreas! Is it alright if I just send you part of the league files? The files (.dat only) are almost 290 MB compressed.

Yes, that should do it. Please compress and upload the league files. Then make a backup of the folder /news/html/images. Load the original game and try to find a player where the problem occurs. Send me the player name and a complete description how to reproduce the problem.
Thanks in advance!

Well, the problem with your league is that some players have no Facegen data. They used to have it, but it's lost. This can happen when the faces.dat file is damaged or deleted. OOTP will start without the faces.dat file, but then the players have no facegen data anymore. They still have their picture, but no facegen data.
Enable debug mode in Preferences dialog/Troubleshooting. Then open a player profile and open the Pictures menu at the bottom of the screen. Click on "Show info". It will say "no face data object. photo status: has picture, source: facegen fictional". The source info is being saved in the players.dat file, that's why it's still there. But "no face data object" means that there's no record with the face data for this player in the faces.dat file.
The faces.dat file saves the person type and the person id for each face data record. The person IDs do not change in OOTP. So you can use an older backup of the faces.dat file when you lose the original file. But of course the older the file, the more incomplete it will be.
We already did a lot to improve the load/save functions of the faces.dat file, but I'll try to add something to make sure that OOTP tells you if the file could not be saved or loaded successfully.

That makes a lot of sense, but, unfortunately, that's not what's happening, apparently. I did what you asked and here's an example. They all seem to be like this.

And what's the problem with that player? If you click on "Same picture", will the face change?

As with all of them, if I click on same picture, the background and angle will change, but never the facial hair. Any time the game auto-generates a picture, there is no facial hair. The only way I can get facial hair is by specifically choosing a beard type from the picture menu are setting the game to update all pictures in January. If I have it set to generate on demand, there is never any facial hair (with any player).
