I have the same problem in an MLB quickstart I imported from OOTP 11. Some cities were listed as having the incorrect state/region. I actually thought this was fixed with the patch because California started showing correctly after I patched, but there are still other city/state combinations that are messed up.

as to try the full reinstall of deleting all old files and installing again i did so
i even went as far as reformating my hard drive reinstalling windows and then OOTP11 and 12 again, but still have the problem

the only reason i brought up the lack of response is that its fustrating seeing my post go quiet while a complaint over a report showing up wrong gets over 300 views. I know the devs care and are hard at working trying to recreate and fix this problem, it’s just seems at times the one who scream the sky is falling cause of one little bug get the quicker response while the rest of us wait but that's how it always looks when you’re waiting and other peoples numbers get called first.
FIX IT NOW ... k i got that out of my system

Anyways I’m glad others are having this problem as now i don't feel so alone but hope that it can be repaired soon.

Is it possible to edit the world.dat to fix the problems? Won’t fix the problem for everyone but on an individual basis it might be a work around

It may be, but I opened it up and poked around a bit and couldn't find anything that looked like it might be causing the problem. Granted, I'm no expert on XML, but my guess is it has something to do with the import process rather than the XML file itself.

My only question would be if you were using a custom world.dat in your OOTP 11 league, I could maybe see that causing a problem.

Otherwise, submit a ticket and get the file uploaded. Likely the reason you haven't had an answer yet is that there is no easy answer.

Once a league is created, you can only edit the world.dat in game in Commissioner mode via the "Explore World" option under the Manager drop-down menu (the Nation Editor tab).

Editing the world_default.xml will have no effect on leagues already created.

I was not using a custom world.dat. The only mod I had was some facegen and photo files, probably the All-In-One mod, though I don't remember for sure.

At what time during the season did you all import your leagues from OOTP 11? The reason that I ask is that I imported two leagues right after the playoffs were over and had problems with messed up city/state associations. I went back and looked at another league I imported during the playoffs and didn't see any problems with the city/state associations. So I went and imported another league that was in the middle of the regular season and again, no problems.

Now I have no idea why this would matter, but it might be worth looking into. Import some leagues from OOTP 11 at various times during the year (regular season, offseason, pre-season, etc.) and see if it makes a difference as to whether the city/state associations import correctly or not.

I've imported custom leagues and had the problem, so to eliminate the league i tried another custom league, same problem so i tried the default MLB quick start in OOTP 11 and imported that multiple times, same result

the first custom league starts in Jan 1st, 2010
the quick start before opening day
the other custom league starts March 1st,2012

i suggested the world.XML as it is a new addition it gets the blame first

I'd like to state again this is not an import problem as i can import fine but after reloading i find the problem. Support ticket has been created and 3 leagues have been uploaded to get checked

So nothing has changed, in this aspect of the game, from previous versions, right? What I mean is, unlike editing the names files and re-importing them and having them take affect in already created leagues, there's still no way to apply changes to cities once the leage is created, right? You can only make the changes (i.e. change language percentages) available in the "Explore World" option. Just trying to understand this part of the game.

I'm having similar problems (see my post regarding major cities in Korea and Taiwan that I can't seem to find). Additionally, just realized that I can't find Vancouver, British Columbia. Like OP, it pulls up a Middle EAstern country instead.

For what it's worth, my saved game is an import from OOTP11. Also I'm using the default world.xml from Questdog's name download.

Yes, sir. Same as before, once world.dat is created it is set in stone (except for the few things you can edit in game).

If your game is an import of an OOTP11 game, then it is not using the world_default.xml file, but should be using whatever data was in the world.dat file of your old league.

yes but if it was a problem with the world.dat wouldn't the problem show itself in 11? since it only happens in 12 and the world database has been enhanced i'm assuming it has something to do with how it's pulling the city info and matching it wrong with the new data that was never 11, like say lattitude and such

OOTP11 had latitude and longitude. I'm gonna try an experiment here real quick.....

Just to make sure, I imported a league from OOTP11 that only had two countries in the nations.txt file, one I renamed Perriwinkle and the OOTP12 league only has the same two countries, one named Perriwinkle. So the data in your OOTP12 league definitely comes from the OOTP11 world.dat
