But the new XML format is superior, and editable, and larger, and better organized, and easier to customize and it makes far more sense. It didn't take me long at all to edit out the nations that have never produced an MLB player to date. It's worth it. Trust me. Buy the game.

Only of OOTP 11 and OOTP 12. The OOTP team has been hitting on all cylinders lately.

Not sure on the level of work entailed in the transfer, however. |

You really don't want to miss out on OOTP 12 over something as minor as that. Buy it, migrate your data and move on. Or just use the new world data base instead, which is awesome. You want to be stuck with OOTP 11 for the rest of your life? Of course not! So man up and move on!

Just to give a bit of an 'inside' view on that, the question of a revised world database underwent a lot of discussion as to what it should include and how it should be structured, and how the various bits of information should relate to one another and how they might be used in various aspects of the game.

If you use an XML editor then the editing is MUCH easier. There are free ones available, check the link above.

I haven't done any work with xml, all my changes in the past have been done with text and spreadsheets, switching between both to find repeat cities, names and such. Anyway if I opened the city file which is xml now ? In open office which is what I use can I not just copy and paste my Skelphland cities into it and just save that (which is what i used to do with the old text files) ? And same with the names, weather etc and are they all in xml format now ?
If it's a matter of just copy and paste then I'm fine with that but as you can understand 3,500 cities to redo then it's

Will a top rated centerfielder still have a negative twenty zone rating in left field the first season you play him there?

Wolf, you love OOTP12, and I'm happy for you (and others). But, I don't think you quite understand what people who aren't thrilled about the "enhanced" world database are saying. If over the years someone has been content with the cities and nation text files "as shipped", and they've only made some minor changes (i.e. altering racial/ethnic make-ups, omitting cities/nations, etc), then I can see how the new world database would seem "enhanced", "superior", and "editable". That type of editing would only require deleting some lines, or changing some numbers. If, on the other hand, someone has spent (literally) years modifying their cities file to their liking (OOTP was big on "customization"), then adding that data to the new world database becomes a big thing. Right now that is a "seemingly" impossible task, but I'm sure that "great minds" are working on it, and the results will soon be pouring in . None of the other features of OOTP12 have cause me to salivate or become giddy, but OOTP11 is still a great version of a great game, so I'm still enjoying OOTP.

Im familiar with XML files, but it boggles my mind that no official details on this have come out on this since January.
I mean, I don't know how much work it will entail for the people who severely modify their world files, but you would have thought a "heads up" would have been given with just what is being modified this year as compared to the file format in previous versions. I have been asking for details on this for some time and the lack of response has made me think the changes were minor. So I'll ask again, How about some real actual detail on what the files look like and what the differences are? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

You'd need to see a copy of the file. Would it be legal to email you one? If it is, I will.
