I had VCU in the elite 8 , but I had Kansas winning it all.

I had Kansas winning it all. However, I am still in first place in my pool and have a chance to win it. All of the people who had Kansas, Ohio St., Duke, etc., are all behind me by at least 10 points right now. There is one person who has Kentucky winning it all (and that's all they have left alive in their bracket) and another person has NC winning it all (and that's all they have left). Obviously, after this game, one of them will be done.

So, that will leave the Kentucky guy or the NC guy against me. I have UConn in the finals, so if UConn beats the winner of this game...I win!

He has Butler too. Just looks like he got a little lucky and made some great picks to me. Kansas hurt me too. I had UConn/UK/Kansas/Florida final four. My Southeast region was perfect, I didn't miss a single game until Butler beat Florida. I had every other game in that bracket correct. If Florida had beaten Butler, I believe that would have been the first time I had ever done a bracket and been perfect on an entire region. I usually always miss a game or two in a region.

My West bracket was almost perfect too. I had Mizzou over Cincy and Duke over Zona. I am a Zona fan but couldn't bring myself to pick them because they are so young and Duke was returning their entire team sans Scheyer, plus Curry, Irving etc... I figured Duke would pound them then get beaten by UConn. One of the few times I was happy being wrong.

They are calling this "the most unlikely Final Four ever." My first foray into betting on March Madness and I am adrift in a sea of bracketry!

This is what makes these things so hard to do well in. If you watch a lot of college basketball you arent going to be picking things like VCU that work out. VCU odds of making the final four before the tournament started were 200-1.

Great job on the UConn and Kentucky picks. You did far better than most.

Yeah, VCU was a longshot but they had a pretty solid showing a few years ago. Didn't they beat Duke in the 2nd round 3-4 years ago to make it to the Sweet 16? So, I could see someone perhaps being sweet on them. Like George Mason, Gonzaga and Butler they have a recent history of slaying goliath in the tourney.

That is pretty much why I picked Butler to go as far as I did. I wasn't much on Pitt and Butler returned most of their players from last season. They still had Howard and Mack. I felt they were underseeded.

As far as UConn, they were hot down the stretch and were playing incredible basketball. I hate to get on the Duke = not athletic soap box because I think that is BS most of the time, but I did feel that UConn had better athletes than Duke and they had really started to gel at the right time. I mean, they beat 6 straight teams in the top 25 to end the season. That is a pretty impressive run. I have them winning it all in the title game against Kansas.

My champion is still alive. Although, since I have no money riding on it I am definitely pulling for Butler. I can only hope that Brad Stevens stays at Butler and builds them into a mid-major that can compete with the big boys, like Mark Few with Gonzaga. It is always nice to see the "underdog" that can hang with the teams with 10x the budget.

However, who could blame him for taking a pay day.

Wow, was that the worst final ever? The two teams combined shot 31-of-119 (26%).

I heard (I didn't see the game) that Butler was much worse in this regard. Gosh, how does it feel to go to the Finals two years in a row, lose both times, and know that you caught UConn on an off night and still couldn't beat them?
