At first I thought this was in your OOTP league, but then saw the news. One of those larger than life people whose passing reminds us we are all mortal. RIP.

Now it makes sense as to why the Yankees can lose two legends in one week, there was only one man who could introduce Georgie into heaven...
"Ladies and Gentlemen, please help me in welcoming George M. Steinbrenner III to heaven, George M. Steinbrenner III" like only Bob Sheppard could do. |

You might be able to single-handedly credit Mr. Steinbrenner for our newest owner personality feature. Not sure there will ever be a personality like his.

RIP
Even if you hate the Yankees (and I do), you have to admire George. He brought more fans into baseball than any owner that I can think of.

Year's ago a sports writer described Steinbrenner in words that always seemed to me to capture the man's temperment when he called George
"a first and ten capitalist in a bunt and run world". Love him or not ( and I have to say I didn't) you can't imagine the last 30-40 years of baseball without his presence. |

RIP. Dude is what many owners are trying to be. Always sad to see a sports figure like him pass away especially when you were fond of their teams.

My favorite tweet about it so far is by Michael Ian Black:
Somewhere in heaven, Billy Martin just got fired.

ESPN and Major News Networks I give an A for the coverage of him passing away and MLB Network doesn't get a ratting because never broke in to talk about this morning as I saw on the Channel because showing a repeat.
at least the team has his Brothers still as Owners.

Very sad. Love him or hate him, you can never blame him for holding back on his team to try and put a winner on the field. Something that can't be said about a lot of owners. RIP

Sad day for baseball fans and especially Yankee fans. He did everything he could to make the Yankees a great team and he succeeded. When the Yanks win it all this year they can do it for George and Bob. RIP.
