Oh, whoa. Leyland is really going at it with them, and the team's riled up. Not surprised.

It was completely inept. He blew a call in the top of the 9th, too. Called the baserunner safe when he was out that allowed the Tigers to get 2 insurance runs.

This has got to be the worst call I've ever seen, especially considering the situation. Last play in what should have been a perfect game...

Eff you Jim Joyce.
This is why MLB needs full instant replay. If I'm the Tigers, I appeal that one and give him the perfect game ... even though they ruined it. Watching Jim Joyce take the heat. If there ever is a time to bump the ump ... this would be it. Highway effing robbery. |

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: the umpiring this year *really* sucks.

You'd think that in a situation like that (26 up, 26 down) that Joyce would've just given the call to Detroit. What a bum.

I think if instant replay is to be considered, that play is the only argument the pro-side needs.

28 perfect plate appearances. Impressive.

That's just an awful call. Yes it was close, but it wasn't THAT close. On ESPN they're talking about "there's your evidence for giving each manager a "challenge flag" to use one time in game" and they're right. If that gets reviewed there's no way they call the guy safe. Terrible.

Per Jon Heyman, Joyce is generally regarded as one of the best in MLB. His career will be tarnished forever by this call.
