Sounds reasonable, when a player has a slump and loses his forum, he can still be patient at the plate and get on base.

Yes, and still contribute to the team scoring runs. Which is, after all, the whole point of the game.

So the forumula for success as an MLB hitter might be:

walks + power >runs>wins>huge contracts

or some variation in forum.
