I would like to think several of us care enough to put something like this together, I will start with a short answer though. as great as OOTP is kids don't grow up dreaming of being a manager or a coach, they grow up dreaming of being professional athletes. ITP allows you to simulate that dream

I gotta agree, ITP was just plain fun... sure it isn't used by online leagues or as in depth as OOTPX but it was just fun. The fact that it was fun as hell is to it's credit because it was also incredibly flawed. Your player had only the most tenuous attachment to his team (you got in drinking contests with teammates, and that was pretty much it), it was too easy (with the ultimate workout) and it was pretty predictable... but we still play it to this day because it was fun.
Just look at the depth of OOTPX and you can just imagine how awesome playing ITP2 would be. Imagine how the uniforms would change, your player could even age, he could play in winter leagues, there could be more for him to spend money on, he could do interviews, he could be on freaking magazine covers... the possibilities are almost endless... and one would hope, most of the heavy lifting would already be done with the OOTPX engine. I think Road to the Show mode sucks on MLB 09, it can't even capture a 1/10th of the fun I have playing ITP and I would pay (and so would others) for a new, more immersive Inside the Park baseball. Please make it so. |

If ITP was on the same level of OOTP, I would drop down $300+ for it without hesitating (Mac version). I know Markus has a lot on his plate with one game, but OOTP is so solid right now I would not be upset if he took a year off of that to work on ITP. (Others may be upset, I certainly wouldn't though)
I can't believe it's been almost 6 years. In my youth I would blow out the candles on my birthday and think "God, please give Markus the inspiration to do the tedious task of coding an under appreciated game" It's because of Markus I no longer believe in a god. But honestly, if an ITP 2 ever comes out and it's a huge improvement over ITP I would fly to Germany and pay for all the tities and beer he could handle. |

Guys, if he hasn't visited and said it was dead, it isn't. You have to have faith, hang on and let him get some things finished with OOTP 10, and who knows... he might have news for you.
Never give up on the game, sometimes there isn't time to go into depth on OOTP Dev's future while in the middle of finishing up a long OOTP X development and release. I am sure he will address any ideas he has for OOTP, ITP or anything else under the OOTP Developments banner. I know the wait is hard for some, but, I am willing to wait to see what Markus surprises us all with, no matter what it is!

Wow, not sure what to make of that post.
I guess if they are releasing a new Alien vs Predator game around 10 years later (1 Feb Booya!) then I suppose Markus has some leeway. But like AvP, I am content to think this series dead until pleasantly surprised at some later date. Sorry to bring you other 'watchers' back with this post... Hope everyone had a fine Christmas.

Guys, this is under consideration, but no promises either way. I do promise that you guys will know as soon as we're ready to make any formal statement about a potential ITP sequel.
However, please don't expect any official news from Markus until well after OOTP 11 is released. There's just too much on our plates right now. Thanks very much! ![]() Steve

Wow. No disrespect intended, but I can't believe I'm reading a thread about reviving ITP. Am I dreaming? Will I read a thread about a Total Control Football remake next?
I bought ITP back in the day and found it to be largely unplayable, with patches that made it completely unplayable. I was under the impression that everyone else pretty much had the same experience as me. Given the experience that most ITP 1 buyers had, I can't see how an ITP 2 would be met with anything other than extreme skepticism from most potential players. But there does appear to be a fan base here. Where does it come from? Have there been new patches released I'm not seeing, or are you guys working around the issues somehow? What is it that caused you to get a positive impression of the game? |

This was at least 5 years ago, so I doubt I'm going to quote everything properly. But as I remember it...
There was something going on with the screens. Can't remember if it was when I went in and out of an actual game or something more frequent than that, but there were times when it would take 3-4 minutes to load a new screen. Teams would rapidly move you up and down from majors to minors, and change your role. Stuff would happen like, you would be told every couple of days that you were a closer, or bounced from AAA to the majors at a very unrealistic rate like a yo-yo. I don't remember the exact effect this had on gameplay, but I do remember it was significant. Those are the two I remember... I know there were other problems, too. I also remember that the gameplay itself was shallow and not immersive in the least. The game didn't run quickly enough to play hands-off, and hands-on play was pretty much clicking 'swing' or 'bunt' a whole bunch of times, with an inordinate amount of times spent in bars. It felt more like something a guy would write just for fun than a commercial product. Perhaps our definition of 'major' is different, or our definition of 'unplayable'. Your statement implies that you certainly had or know of 'minor' issues, or a major issue that you didn't feel was bad enough to make the game unplayable for you. Go back to 2006, 2005 in this very forum, when ITP was being played by a broader and therefore less forgiving user base. You'll see plenty of people who felt they had major issues with the game - issues which were bad enough to drive them away. Last edited by One Post Wonder; 03-19-2010 at 11:37 AM. |

I believe the biggest reason that ITP has fans is because of what it could be. ITP has so many things that can be done to it to make it a great game. This type of game has promise but we all have to understand that OOTP is what puts food on the table for Markus. Assuming OOTP 11 doesn't have many bugs then we will get a response from Markus or at least from someone else in the company. I'm also not going to say that ITP didn't have bugs because it did but no more then any other game. I never had any problems to where I could not play the game at all, well except ditching pcs for macs. Maybe you just had bad luck, god knows I have had to sell plenty of games because they didn't work. Now I am a fanboy of ITP, no one has campaigned harder for a new version then me. I believe, as long as OOTP 11 doesn't take to long to patch up, that we will be finding out news about future versions. |
