Hicks has won the last three AL MVPs, while Jones hasn't won any.
Jones has two gold gloves, Hicks one.
Jones was an All-Star in 2011 and 2013.
Hicks was an All-Star in 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2016.

It may be a fluke, but for those who still have Hicks in your system, you might want to use another prospect to get Jones.

I just ran a sim for 3 years during using the MLB quickstart. At the beginning of the 2012 season these are the teams with no money availible for that season: Reds, Rockies, Astros, Cardinals, and Blue Jays. The only thing I altered from the original setup is trading preferences, moving frequency to Low and Favoring prospects. So I really don't see a problem with the amount of teams who end up not being able to make trades. So either this is a problem with your game specifically, or you did something to alter it. I'm gonna run a simulation again during the allstar game to see if the results are constant though.

Edit: after the 2nd sim the teams with no money available for the season are: Braves, Cubs, Reds, Rockies, Angels, Brewers, Yankees, Mets, Pirates, and Mariners. So now I'm starting to lean towards this being a problem of some sort. So I'm gonna go for yet another simulation. This one was run with the same conditions of the first, meaning all I changed was the AI's trading options. This time I might look at changing some of the financials. Well I'll talk to you all again in about another hour.

Thanks for doing this. I started a new MLB Quickstart league where I'm playing all the games. That way, I'm hoping the problem is fixed by the time my first season is over. If it isn't, I might just manually play around w/ the financials after season one. Based on what others seem to be saying, the problems exists the first four or five offseasons but eventually fixes itself.

PS -- I'm 15-12 w/ the Twins in my new league......Nathan has blown 3 saves and just coughed up a 3-run lead against Detroit. Mauer is hitting .249

Very interesting on Jones & Hicks. After the 2009 season, I moved Jones to Chicago for SS Alexei Ramirez. I had too many OF's with Span, Gomez, Cuddyer, Kubel, Jones & Young. Jones wanted nearly $7M through arbitration, so I chose to deal him for a much needed SS in Minnesota.

In 2010, Hicks is hitting .221 with 5 HR's in AAA for Baltimore in mid-June.

After the 2009 season, I was able to get rid of Cuddyer and his $12M salary. I waived him & sent him to AAA just after the season, before the Rule 5 draft. He was picked up by Arizona in the Rule 5 Draft. Same with Punto, who was grabbed by LA Dodgers with his $4M salary.
