Id like to see extensive clutch ratings eventually. Personal offensive and defensive clutch ratings and then also team clutch ratings.

I think performance in the clutch is such an integral part of baseball that in order for OOTP to function at the highest level of realism it has to in some way include an extensive clutch rating system.

I have four

1. Make Winter Leagues something more than cosmetic leagues.

2. Allow Major League clubs to invest money in overseas academies

3. Allow transfers from foreign leagues into major leagues. Sort of like what goes on now between MLB and NPBL.

4. Allow players to be loaned out or in like in European football.

I wish the human GM would receive a salary like it's AI counterparts to make the financials more realistic. And as long as I'm wishing, I wish that virtual salary would be paid in real dollars, please.

I think it would be nice to get some feedback in the PbP about player defensive skills. For example:

If a SS makes an error and he has a low infield error rating, the PbP might say, "[Player] can be somewhat error prone."

If a runner is heading home but the throw from the outfield is not in time to get him, "[Player] doesn't have the strongest arm in the league."

These types of lines should be pretty rare, and should really focus on times when the game made a roll against the players defensive ratings and the player failed.

Right now there is plenty of feedback about how a batter does in an AB, but if the PbP says,

"The ball is hit to the left side...
...it gets through to the outfield..."

I don't know if that was hard coded or if a better SS would have made a difference. A little feedback every now and then might help it seem like the defensive numbers really make a difference. (I am not saying that they don't, I am just saying that it would help differentiate the good defenders from the bad ones in the users mind.)

Or some keyboard hotkeys for infield/outfield positioning. It's a pain in pitch by pitch mode to have to grab the mouse to set my positions when I'm using the keyboard for everything else.

I wish G/F% in fictional leagues were more realistic. I highly doubt that every single pitcher in 1901 had a G/F% between 32%-38%.

And from a quick test I ran starting fictional leagues in several decades, fly balls are overweight up till modern times.

This isn't that big of a deal, but it means that your outfield defense is much more important than it would be IRL. SS & 2B gold glovers are much less important.

I would like to have Auto-Play until next series, because I do that a lot using Auto-Play untill Date X. You won't here me complain if it's in a patch in OOTP 10 instead.

from my perspective, the more hotkeys, the better. I use XP speech recognition in dictation mode, which allows me to simulate keystrokes whenever possible, cutting down on repetitive motions. (carpal tunnel here. )

currently play by play mode allows the most flexibility, but there are a few exceptions as you noted. I usually allow my manager to set defensive options, and save my hands for substitutions, etc.

Great idea, though considering the complaints we read about Markus from the Play-By-Play team, I'm guessing this would be a monster to code.

1. A save game function. Maybe no one interrupts Markus or Andreas when they play but some of us aren't so lucky.

2. The ability to pick the pinch hitters for my team. No, Mister AI, do not use up my only backup catcher in the 7th inning.

3. A 1024 x 600 resolution OOTP driver so we can play on netbooks.

4. Mass select. This should have been in the game since back before I first bought it.

Albert Pujols and Joe Mauer on the Red Sox.

Seriously though, I'd like to see more when signing a hitting or pitching coach. I'm not sure if it's in, if it is great, but if it isn't, I and many others (I'm sure) would like to see how a pitching/batting coach affects a team. If he showed the Yankees how to hit, did their batting average improve and power drop or vice versa? Pitching would practically be the same only with K, ERA and W/L totals.

The ability to hire a third and first base coach would be lovely too. I wouldn't want to see it be a cosmetic change, either. I've managed my son's little league team and if I learned anything from that is is:

A.) If you have a good base coach who's telling you to go or steal at the right time, you're more successful

B.) If you have a good base coach, you can tag up better, advance, etc. . .

I know little league isn't a good comparison but I'm basing that off my experiences in real life. If a base coach can read the pitcher/fielder accurately, you are more than likely going to get better results than one who reads poorly.

Also, team captains. I know not many teams have them, but if you have a good captain, the overall moral of all your players is increased and efficiency should pick up a tad. If you have a bad one, the opposite occurs.

I'd also love the ability to SEND my scouts to different places and invest into certain nations other than the computer controlling that. Instead of my scout being in Italy, I'd rather have him in Jamaica scouting some talent. Also, the ability to tell him what to scout would be ideal. If I want pitching, I tell him to focus on pitching, etc. . .

As for something optional, I'd love to be able to have a commissioner automatically assigned to my MLB Replay. It doesn't have to be exactly the same person it was at that point, but anyway, the commissioner would pretty much be in charge of dealing out suspensions... if player X tests positive for cocaine, he gets suspended for Y amount of days. It'd depend on the commissioner's personality which would be factored in. He could be lenient or strict and favor certain players. Obviously this needs to be polished first before it's added, but if anybody has anything to add to this, go ahead.

Also, when players retire, they shouldn't automatically be inducted into the HoF. They should be eligible in X amount of years, similar to real life. And the game owner should be able to set a season requirement for players who retire. If player B only plays for seven and a half years, he's not eligible if the game owner only wants people who play for ten years in the Hall of Fame. I know I can do this manually, but I'm lazy, and I know that's not an excuse. But I don't like simming five years and then realizing that I forgot to put Nolan Ryan in the Hall.

I wouldn't be surprised if half of what I suggested is already in the game (right under my nose), or was already told no at one point, but that's the joy of new. You don't know what's gone on for the previous versions and what's been suggested.

Mass select and the ability to save games in progress seem to be very popular ideas.

In the Manager Home Screen in the window called Your Team where it lists your overall record and how many games behind you are. I would like it to list how many games you are ahead when your team is in first place.
