I would absolutely love an OOTP style basketball game. I tried the demo for Draft Day Sports Pro Basketball, but it seemed a little buggy.

So if a legendary dragonslayer wanted to be a dragonslaying ace and get five or more then he'd have to carefully select his target kingdoms. There's probably a short story in there somewhere.

Short story, hell! Eric Flint must surely be working on the pentalogy as we speak...

Good point, we need to make sure that he and David Weber don't ever read this thread.

I don't know of any game on the market, for any sport, with anywhere near the customization options of OOTP. Is there any? Games like Football Manager seemed to be geared almost completely toward real-world simulation. The ability to run the game with fictional players being the only bone to fictional simmers.

That may be true...but FM is still an incredibly addictive game.

I don't know of any such sports games. There are some strategy games that you can customize as much, but as far as I know OOTP rules the world of customizable sports games. But then who has seen everything? There may be an Irish hurling sports simulation game out there that none of us have ever seen that is 100% customizable.

*If* you like soccer. I tried it and lost interest after one night's play.

I am a games modder, more than I actually play. Its why I love OOTP so much, you can customize thinsgs so easily.

While I have modded some other games more in the senc of really changing it, these games were modded with community tools while OOTP has built in fetaures right there incouraging you to use!

A game will last ALOT longer if its moddable/customizable... thats a fact.

If I really wanted a good curling simulation, I'd wax the kitchen floor, get my sister's cat, feed it ritalin, and chase it around with my broom.

Only if it's customizable to the point where you can use the 'whap-whap' brooms instead of the modern era squeegees.
