How about the single league disable playoff problem. Two teams tie for second and there is a forced extra game to decide the tie. Been around since v7.

Kudos again Markus - you are truly the most responsive game designer I've ever come in contact with.

And Lou or whoever you really are, if you're really looking for game improvement you just got some great news. If you're just a bitterman when it comes to OOTP, that'll be evident sooner rather than later and it will just make you easier to ignore. Either way, have a great day!

While I applaud Markus for this, I think it's important for people to approach our bug fix requests through the appropriate channels of the tech support forum. Markus has always been incredibly responsive to complaints on these forums. However, it's also important for Markus to fix bugs with the big picture in mind. How important is this bug to fix relative to the numerous other ones that need fixing? How long will it take to fix and test the fix? We need to guide Markus in answering the first question, while only he and the development team can answer the second. Also, it's easy for requests posted scattershot around the forums to get missed and/or forgotten. Getting them logged via tech support will help prevent that from happening.

For a development team that gets a lot of credit for listening to their customers, improving the communication back on how they've heard us and are prioritizing things might reduce these types of requests. The tech support forum works great to get bug fixes into the the queue, but it's rare for us to get any feedback on what in the queue is going to get looked at. Sometimes I wonder if Markus is fixing bug X, which seems important to him but only 300 customers really care about it, while bug Y is something that 1500 customers are struggling with. Obviously, there's a bit of a balance there, too. If you're fixing 20 bugs for customer group A and 0 bugs for customer group B, then you might alienate group B entirely. Maybe fixing 10 for each group is better, even if group B is much smaller. Along those lines, I was rather impressed to see Markus solicit a response for prioritization earlier this year. It proves to me that he's trying to understand what it is we're looking for in the game.

I must say, that of all the potential issues with OOTP to ask Markus to fix, I sure was surprised that this is the one you were refusing to buy the game because of. There's other issues that have caused me to consider not buying it, but this isn't one of them. It certainly reflects the fact that OOTP is enjoyed in many different fashions.

Like I said, I'm surprised that was the one issue to get you to purchase the game. On the other hand, it may be that you've got other issues that make you feel like not buying, but Markus' response is worth supporting financially. Either way, you approached this in a reasonable way and I'd love to see some of the other posters on these forums take note.

Will not buy it

The one big problem that I believe still exists and I don't know If you will agree with me or not, but I do know that a number of you have wished for this as well, is that the user interface be much more easier to use than what it is right now, I personally liked the older interface a lot better because it was simple to use, the new user interface is way to complicated and complex, and again markus this is one area in the game that needs to be fixed.

This year I'm wavering between ootp and mogul. Probably because I look for different stuff than most people here. I like to play out games in historic times. But most of the time I play part of the game and want to come back to it later. Mogul has this, ootp does not. The pbp in both games is different but I like both. I requested this several times in various places. When v10 was announced and people were asking "is this included?" I asked about a save in pbp and that question was ignored. So I guess it's not there. For me that could be a deciding factor between the games. I prefer ootp but.....

You have your opinion which is fine but some people like the interface the way it is so how do you propose he fixes it to satisfy both sides? I feel the manager screen in the latest version turns a complex interface into something very simple.

No, this will not be part in OOTP. The database is much more complex than in Mogul and works differently (for example simming multiple games simultaneously), so this is very difficult to code.

Will not buy

Maybe the game is more then complicated for him. I've purchased OOTP since the beginning and there's not another game like it!

There are many games that I don't plan on buying, and there's not enough time in my day to start going to the forums of every one, and announcing my intentions to not purchase them.
I second this post ... it's one thing if the games are horrible and the customer service is laughable and you know they are just in it for the $$$ -- then yes, you go off and let everyone know about it ...

but OOTP is beyond amazing, even with its quirks and issues, and the folks around here go above and beyond to take care of their customers ...

Since he's listening to you and not us, Lou, please go read all the complaint threads and list all the problems out for him.

Markus always says the same thing ever new version or patch. Its becoming unbelievable. I agree he needs to be more detail instead of just saying Improved. That is why people question if its really fix.

Maybe Markus is better spending his time coding than babysitting the naysayers
