The logo and photo ideas are great. I hope they can be utilized.

As for Tiger Fan's idea, I agree that the team with the most games would be best for retired players. Maybe even another color set for HoF players, like red, white, and blue.

Jeff! Looks better than BBRef already, although it would also be cool to be able to use the BBRef style as an option for private leagues that liked the simplicity of that design and did not have a public link to their history pages.

I agree this would be awesome as a OOTP History option. Also would be nice only displaying the batting rating for fielders and only the pitching ratings for pitchers.

Looks great -- I was just wishing that one of the history utils generated mlb/espn style player sheets.

My only critique is that the fonts are a little small on Mozilla. Not a huge problem for 99% of the users, I suppose..

This is something else. I echo Killebrew's request to have an option to go with this version or the BR-mimicking version for home use, although I might prefer this version regardless.

The colors were a bit tough on my eyes as well. But with colors being tweakable, I think this new style is outstanding.

Truth be told I think Sean Forman should retain you to redesign BR.com.

Looks great, the only thing I can say is that the font seems very small in Netscape 7.0

I just downloaded the latest version of Cato's history program. Is this the output of it, or is this a test for a future release?

And will it regenerate all pages if you've created the old style ones?

Colors...hurt...

Also, it would be a nice thing to change the font...I liked the feel of the old reference better.

layout looks nice but the colors and font doesn't appeal well to me. too hard to read. i'm sure the ability to change the background will be available but if you decide to stick with the font your using there could a option be added to change font before generating pages.

I don't think I'll be able to have the option of either style, it would be too much code. And if I change something, say add a stat, I'd have to change it in 2 places. Yuck!

However, everything is customizable through the stylesheet. Font type, font color, font size, background, cell spacing, ect. So, given that, I'm assure it could be made to look similar to the old style. But, I do want the 'default' version to look as good as possible, so I'll make some changes and post a new version.

drood -

This is a test page only. Output from the latest version is still the old style.

Cato,

Love your utility, and the new looks is nice. A couple of people have mentioned this before, but I thought I would repeat it. The font in Mozilla/Netscape 7.0 is very small. I use both IE 6.0 and Netscape 7.0 and the font is about half the size in Netscape. Just wanted to bring this to your attention, I am not sure if there is anything you can do about this.

Thanks

Alrighty. I downloaded the Cato History and the CSV Reporter. I set everything up and I opened the readme. It is very detailed and I think I might be able to figure it out after the beginning. It says to select New but whenever I do it says File Not Found. This is all Greek to me but it goes step by step so I shoulde be able to handle it but I just can't get throught his part. Thanks.

Did you download the full install (about 10MB) and run setup.exe? If you did, give you give more details, I'm not sure what else it could be.

i went to the download page last night and clicked on it to download. I had to work later so I went and took a nap. When I woke up the file was downloaded. I ran the setup.exe. Everything is cool so far. I click on the logo and start it up and all the options are gray so you can't select anything. I read the readme and selected New. As soon as I hit New a window pops up and says File Not Found. Thats about everything there. I have Season Ticket Baseball 2003 so is that a problem? Also, everything is in its own file, should it be in the STB file? Thanks

I made some changes to the layout. I think it looks better. How about you Netscape guys, any better?

Old version
New version

JoeRock -

Look in the folder you installed my program to (default is C:\Program Files\OOTP History). Find a file called 'ootphist.ini'. Right-click on it and select Open (or open it with Notepad). Replace whatever is on the first line with a valid folder such as "c:\'. Save it, and close Notepad. Run my program and see if that helped at all.

Just a quick fix under "batting stats" (I'll assume this is a problem under Pitching Stats too...), it reads badly:

Bold lines indicate player won Hank Aaron Award award or Roberto Clemente Award award.

Are the stats identical in each example? Because in the 'old' version, Jim Rice shows as playing in AAA in 1990, but in the 'new' version he shows as playing on the major league team. Noticed this because no stats used the minor league color.

Otherwise, I prefer the new look, but would like the minor league stats to remain the same color as the old look.

Thanks.

Jeff. One think I dont see is the leaderboard rankings for Rice (the times he finished in top 10 in a category. ) Is it just a case you didnt put them in this example or are they no longer included. Same question for the similiar players and black/grey ink and HOF standards.
