After going .373/.465/.695 47 HRs 129 RBI in 2012 Bruces ratings dropped from 20 Contact 13 Power 14 Eye, to 16 Contact 14 Power 11 Eye. Then a torn hip muscle, fractured skull, and two knee injuries in the span of 15 months knocked him down to 12/9/8 so its hard to say what he would have done.
Longoria is still going strong though 13- .348/.451/.628 41 HRs 140 RBI 14- .364/.448/.684 41 HRs 134 RBI

So Bruce peaked at 23, and Longoria at 24-25...though Longoria is holding on pretty firmly, my guess is when you plot his final career you'll feel pretty reasonable saying he peaked prior to 27 years old.

In 08 Bruce was hitting .305/.386/.480 rather realistically.
In 09 Bruce went for an unreal .402/.482/.687 Then in 10 Bruce started the season .421/.491/.695 before SUFFERING A CAREER ENDING INJURY in June....go figure By the way am I the only one who has issues with career ending injuries? Not only did Bruce suffer one but so did A-Rod and a couple of other players and I'm only in 2010 right now. It seems that nearly each month an MLB player suffers a career ending injury. I'm playing with the default database. |

Weird, Longoria has been lost to career ending injuries in two of my simulations too. It seems a lot of stars get them regardless of age. I'm going to tinker with the injuries.dat file and see if I can adjust it and just make those year long ones.

All the young stars have a similar trend. They have huge years between 24-27, then seem to flame out by the time they hit 30. I hope this isn't a natural trend with development as 30 is about the age of a player's prime these days, not the end of his career.

My early looks say that OOTP hitters peak at 24-25 unless you tweak the development modifiers. Hence my virtual Fresca bet upstream. I don't know that they should all flame out at 30...in fact I suspect power hitters in particular will hold their value a little longer than they should barring injury.

Technically, I expect power to peak at age 24.7 (STDEV 2.7), so you'll still get some guys to peak at age 27+, just not many. I've started fiddling around with development modifiers and gotten a bit better results.
