One thing I noticed: Jesus Montero, the Yanks catching prospect, is extremely highly thought of, but he's a * prospect in the game, at least according to my scout. Phil Hughes is a 1/2 star prospect. While he's struggled a bit thusfar, I think it's a little early to write off a 21 year old guy who everyone thinks has great potential. On the other hand, Eric Duncan is a ** player who is ready to make an impact right away, but in real life he's basically been a bust so far. His career OPS in the MINORS is .758 and based on his ratings in OOTP he'd usually be OPSing in the .820s in the majors.

I think that Cot's Contracts were being used at some point. My guess is that the contacts were correct at some point, then the Make all contracts fictional button was clicked to change things around.

I mentioned in this thread: http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...ml#post2507700
This bug already, but I've seen it myself and seen a few others that report Liriano is starting multiple games in a row for the Twins using the MLB 2008 quick start. In my case, Liriano has started every season for the Twins, but collects no stats and records no pitches thrown (so is fresh to pitch the next game each time). Follow my link above for more information. |

Maybe it would be helpful if the mystery group or person repsonsible for the rosters would let us know what is supposed to be done, and what they know is broken/wrong/intentionally garbled to satisfy some legal concern.
For example:
So then we know the baseline, and we can report anomalies. I hope this message doesn't sound like I'm saying the rosters are useless. Just getting the names of all the players in the right organizations is a good start. But that's really not even a fraction of the work it takes to create a roster set. The more I look at this set, the more I wonder what else has really been completed past that point. |

Try to check the BNN page for Koby Clemens (Tri-City Valleycats, New York Penn League) in the MLB Quickstart.
"HTML_PARSER::start_tag - unknown tag_type found: Roger" Click ok, then "HTML_PARSER::start_tag - unknown tag_type found: td width" Click ok, then ""HTML_PARSER::end_tag - no open tag found for the tage which is to be closed td" Click ok, page opens up, fine, except in the history where it says "Son of ." The link to Roger is throwing off the HTML. |

So, regarding the issue with teams missing players at AAA (or other levels). That problem seems to go away, as it should, if you uncheck the box "allow ghost players in minors." For me, that pretty much makes it a non-issue.
Does that work for anyone else? |

The game isn't designed to handle leagues with an odd number of teams by default.

A patch is coming and lots of work is in progress. Remember that there are 4,300 players in the minors. Erich, as a volunteer, did massive amounts of work to have Opening Day rosters ship with the game.

Am I blind or is Greg Smith not on any roster.
His been pitcher fairly nice for the A´s this year in 10 games. Tell me I´m wrong. The only Greg Smith I can find is a 40 year old second baseman. |

I was blind, BUT searching for Greg Smith just turned up this 2Baseplayer.
Looking in A´s roster and you find the pitcher. This roster has some weird stuff. Hopefully it gets set OK with the players that are listed as retired AND being on rosters will be fixed too. Soooooon |

I know Laroche from Los Angeles hasn't exactly lit up the big leagues yet but he's had quite a bit of health issues, maybe we could look at his ratings a second. He was considered a high level prospect as early as spring training and many believe he still has some upside.

Still fuzzed that lineups in Cubs works out sooo strange
Soriano is best rated as a LF by far but is in as CF Reed Johnson is best rated as LF, RF but do play CF in todays lineups (real-life) Fukudome is best rated as RF but the game puts him in LF The RF is Daryle Ward that has a ridicule low RF rating, but then he is best as 1B. Mark DeRosa lowest rating is SS, much better at 2B and 3B. The AI puts him in SS I can buy different lineups set that´s a changeable thing but AI managers should have some sort of eagerness to play their players at the best positions if not the case is injury or other stuff. This with the Cubs have no reasoning IMHO |

Any chance we can get a little insight into how the rosters were created, what method was used to determine the ratings?
