How could you forget Tim Teufel and the "Teufel Shuffle" and, yes, Carter was pimpin' the permullet in '86.

Break up the Amazins - Mets get hot!

NEW YORK - Following a dismal start that left the '86 Mets with the worst record in baseball, the team has started to pull it together, getting back to .500 with a sweep of the '06 Cubs.

New York has won 10 of its last 11 - moving 2 games out of the 1904 Giants, in a 3-way tie for 2nd place with the 2001 Diamondbacks and the '75 Reds.

Keith Hernandez and Lenny Dykstra - with 13 and 11 game hitting streaks respectively - are leading the way offensively. But the story of the Mets' surge has been their pitching staff.

Look at the numbers:

Dwight Gooden - 4-3, 2.96
Bobby Ojeda - 4-4, 3.29
Sid Fernandez - 5-3, 1.30
Ron Darling - 2-3, 2.91
Ed Lynch - 1-1, 2.47

The Mets have allowed just 28 runs in their last 11 games and only 1 run in their sweep of the Cubs. Fernandez leads the league in ERA and Lynch - pitching for injured Rick Aguilera - has been a pleasant surprise.

If the pitching can continue to hold its own and the lineup can produce just a bit more, the Mets could be looking at the rest of the NL Jordan from the very top!

Thanks, I'm glad you're enjoying it!

No, I didn't reset the birthdays, but it didn't affect anything. The players are the ages they were during their respective season. For example, Hank Aaron is just a young pup on the '57 Braves. It worked out fine!
