One pitch mode for me. Except for some special situations like when i want a bunt or a steal. With my best pitcher i sometimes like to use the pitch by pitch.

I mostly use one-pitch, but for a pitcher that I just brought up from the minors or just signed, or a pitcher whose career I'm particularly interested in, I will use pitch-by-pitch and the 'other' mode (I forget what it's called) so I can see pitch location.

I use pitcy by pitch 95% of the time. It's real baseball for me. Play by play is like a Readers Digest shorthand summation of what happened. All the tension and build up of each play is missing.

I hope for version 10 that the batter's count is placed on the bar just above the script. My old eyes get weary of looking up to the left to get the count. Certainly not a biggie unless you are old like me.

Looking forward to OOTP9. Pitch by pitch...the only way to play.

I'd love to do pitch-by-pitch, but I'm pushing 40 and I want to get through more than a dozen seasons before I die of old age, so I stick with one-pitch mode. OOTP: The only game where I've every played where "number of seasons in average human player lifespan" is a valid statistic.

One-pitch, except when there's a baserunning play to be called. I don't like the idea of the run-and-hit being called on the first pitch every time. I'll wait for a 2-0 or 3-1 count ...

I'll also go pitch-by-pitch when I suspect the bad guys are going to steal. I don't always want my pitchout to be on the first pitch...

Also a combo

I do single pitch if bases are empty, but pitch by pitch if there are any baserunners. If the game is a wipeout I may stay with single pitch for the rest of the game.

The beauty of OOTP is that we have a choice and we can change the style of play during the game. Who could ask for more?
