Beau Duran, Phoenix area shock-jock, called Flynn Kile (Darryl's widow) on the air and basically said something along the lines of "You are really hot! Do you have a date for the game?"

This was after they followed Andy Benes around chanting "Andy Sucks!" to which he replied something to the effect of, "Why don't you say Randy Johnson sucks, we scored 12 runs on him..."

I have never been inspired to register a reaction to anything that has been on the air, radio or otherwise, but I find myself inspired by Mr. Beau Duran.

I know I'm not the first to put forth a reaction to this, so I'll keep it short.

Mr. Duran is the perpetrator of perhaps the most disgusting display of insensitivity, lack of respect, and pure cruelty on the air I have ever heard of. I certainly hope you have repercussions in mind for Mr. Duran. I would be happy if he never worked in the industry again. The emails have had an effect. While this looked like it might (unbelievably) blow over the first day, the radio station has gone from regretting to apologizing, from no penalty for the DJ to a short suspension to at least a week's suspension and possible firing.

Those that wrote in should be applauded; you made a difference in the outcome of this incident. Sadly, though, this will have very little effect on what shock-jocks do.

Exactly. I can't remember the last time I felt so angry after reading a few sentences of a news story. It does not help that part of the strategy of shock jocks is to offend and piss off people, maybe this example of stepping way over the line will have some backlash on other shock jocks that make a living off of other peoples misfortunes.

St. Louis news is reporting tonight that the Shane Company, a large jewelry chain and one of the program's largest sponsors, has pulled its ads from the air.

Nothing like hitting someone in the wallet to change their outlook on a situation.

The Shane Company is pretty big out here... almost all advertising is done on the radio as opposed to TV. Nice call if it's true.
