Didn't all those Mets fans go into hiding somewhere back in June?

I believe the main reason most people picked the Giants is because they are the hottest team right now. Take out teams named the Dodgers and they are something like 27-4, likewise the Cardinals are something like 21-5 and I saw many people prediciting them to make the WS also.

Umm...You might want to look at the stats. The Giants have the 2nd best team ERA in the NL behind the Braves. They have a very deep bullpen and Ortiz and Schmidt have been pitching their best down the stretch, not to mention the very underrated Kirk Reuter.

Well I hope that Atlanta fans show for the playoffs, over the years that has hurt them a great deal not having any home field advantage.

In seven game series, Atlanta is 21-21 at home. Found at a site linked at Baseballreference.com.

As far as being motivated, in the past it seems that the players were going through the motions.

I like Harold Reynolds, BTW.

My favorite Brave announcer was Ernie Johnson, Sr. A funny guy.

Hey!! We only think Sheffield and the Jones' are on roids. And Matt Franco. But thats it.

We think that Leo Mazzone and the pitchers are on speed. I mean how else could a guy NEVER sit still?

And no one is better to tell you than the "tokin' team", the New York Mets. (Which by the way has changed from My Entire Team Sucks to My Entire Team Smokes).

I have found alot (not all) but alot of the stuff that Reynlods has said to be backwards. And for the record, when the Mets play Atlants, I watch the games on TBS. The Mets broadcasters ONLY talk about other clubs. At least Atlantas broadcasters talk about the Mets and the Braves when they play one another...

I like Jeff Brantley as a good analyst. I don't mimd Ron Dibble either. Don't care for Kurkijan or Gammons though.

KINGFC,

Who are the Giants behind in pitching? The Braves. They have a very deep pen and three starters to match those Giants. This Braves team isn't going anywhere. And like the Braves Playoff Preview said, Bring on the Giants.

I didn't say the Giants had a better staff then the Braves, all I said was that they DO HAVE pitching and the stats back that up. I was responding because spleen1015 said they DID NOT HAVE any pitching, which is obviously not true if they are 2nd in the league in ERA.

The Braves have a chance. Every team in the playoffs has a chance. Watch what happens and remember that there is a lot of luck involved in a seven game series, a tremendous amount of luck involved in a five game series, and that the playoffs are not about who has the best team (remember that the team with the best record in baseball has one the WS only once since 1989), but the playoffs are actually about who has the best and hottest core players and the best luck. (Two dominant starters are a key as well, which is why Arizona looks good despite their injuries.)

Any of the teams can win this. Even the Twins. Don't count anybody out yet.

Obviously everybody has a chance right now, but if the Braves' fans are blasie then the home field advantage they have will be hurt.

I wonder where that "great" Braves pitching staff was today. Last I counted the Giants scored 8 runs and pounded out 12 hits. I'll admit it is only the 1st game of the series, but it's nice when you're on top.
