Of course I'd love to see him in the true pinstripes. However, I am going to break from the pack and say that I hope he stays with the Twins. It would be nice to see a super-star stay with a smaller market team for a change.

Doesn't Clemens go on the market every year?

I guess that with a handle like Tribe Fan 24, I would have to say the Indians. I would love to see him pitch against the Twins, that way he is not beating our brains in every time we play them.

I'm not sure he's either the best pitcher in MLB, nor in his prime.

My tea leaves (actually, articles I have read) say this is what happens. Santana stays, Hunter goes because they can't afford both.

Who was the guy that played for the Twins, maybe at 2nd or SS, who won an MVP and ended up signing with a Japanese team later? I think it was the Twins. Im too lazy to open another tab and look.

Hmmmmm...how long ago was this?

I can only think of a couple Twin players that went to Japan - Danny Gladden being one of them, but he was an OFer.

He won the MVP in 1965 hitting .273 19 HR 77RBI and then later signed with a Japanese team in like 72 and hit below .200 and ended up getting released.

Not surprisingly, given the context, Versailles in 65 was more valuable than Chase Utley in 05 or 06.

He played in Japan, for the team called Hiroshima Carp, in 1972.
48 games, 132 AB, 25 hits, 10 RBI, .189 AVG, He was mostly used as a SS.

He had a back problem that was bothering him so much, and he was in and out of the lineup whole season.

He was the first foreign player ever (except for very few Japanese American players) for Hiroshima Carp, so I am sure it must have been so tough for him to adjust to the defferent culture, life style, and everything...

Pedro Martinez when he went to Boston, perhaps?

EDIT: Actually I think the Expos traded him, didn't they?

Maybe it was Maddux when he left the Cubs the first time. Or Clemens to the Jays.

I don't get all this fuss over a guy leading the league in home runs allowed.

Anyway, maybe he should go to Cleveland. They're the only team to ever beat him 3 times in one season and they made it 4 for good measure.

Yes, but he signed as an FA for the Mets.
