I'm taking Hatton by UD. I think Hatton will wear down Castillo as the fight goes on but I don't think he will be able to score the stoppage.

*Bows*....thank you

Castillo looked terrible tonight. Once the bell rang and the fight started, you could tell that his legs were not there at all. Emanuel Steward said Hatton should have stayed outside and made Castillo use his legs but the clinching and inside fighting sapped his legs even faster. Once that well placed body shot was landed, Castillo's lower body just gave out and even if he tried to get up, he would have done a rendition of Judah's chicken dance.

Hatton won't get much credit for that win. Castillo just quit. I think at some point he thought I'm not going to win this fight, I'm not getting paid for it ... first good shot I take I'm going down.

Hats off to Mr. Hatton. I think he should consider a megafight with Mayweather at 147 for the undisputed pound-for-pound title. Like the HBO commentators stated after the knockout; his best match-ups are 7 pounds north at welterweight. Would be a good one.

I think Castillo's out of the ring problems basically put him out of the fight before the bell even rang. Ricky Hatton isn't as effective as a WW, as he barely beat Luis Collazo - whom Shane Mosley went on to practically shut out at WW.

Where does that leave Hatton? At JWW.

Do you really think Hatton-Mayweather would be a good one? Mayweather wouldn't be coming down to 140 (which is where Hatton is good) to fight and for once would be the bigger fighter. I doubt Hatton could win more than two rounds against Mayweather. Collazo made him look slow.

Hatton needs to stay at JWW. Someone might raise to meet him instead of him going up in weight to fight someone. Paulie is an HBO fighter. That fight would be a huge draw in NYC. Here are some others that may draw well:

1- Junior Witter....is from England and is 35-1-2
2- Paulie Malignaggi.....would draw huge in NYC and the styles are right.
3- Vivian Harris.....wouldn't last long under Hatton's pressure but he has some major league fire power.

4- Kendall Holt....if he gets past Ricardo Torres.
5- Ricardo Torres....major firepower here. He must get past Holt. Has many fans based on his bout with Cotto.
6- Lamont Peterson.....is most likely a year away

7- Tim Bradley....see Peterson but not as good.
8- Juan Diaz....If they can get him to move up, he might have a shot. Would draw well in Vegas or Texas.
9- Joel Casamayor.....is past his prime but has skill and outside boxing ability that could confuse Hatton. Hatton will most likely walk right through him.

There are plenty of potential fights out there for Hatton. The above are in no particular order. I would like to see Juan Diaz and Paulie fight him.

MJ

Hatton couldn't handle the style well. Collazo was also just as strong as him which he wasn't used to. I would agree that he would most likely get stopped on cuts against Mayweather. Collazo hurt him several times and he was dinged a few times last night.

They reckon over here that Hatton will fight Mosley next

But I reckon the Hatton camp will go for Malignaggi.

Lets face it, they wont fight Mayweather, De La Hoya, Cotto, etc thats for sure and Malignaggi seems the obvious choice, he's called Hatton out already. Going up to WW again would be a major mistake IMO

* It makes too much sense not to fight Malignaggi. They should hold it in Yankee stadium. They will sell out the Garden in about 1 1/2 minutes. I'll be purchasing tickets if they hold it. England will bring 20,000 strong and the locals will pull for Paulie.

The list Mark mentioned as possible opponents for Hatton at JWW makes for potentiallly good TV fights. IMO the only guys that Hatton would have trouble with are Holt and Diaz. The other seven he should have no trouble beating.

If Hatton/Malinaggi happens i'm definitely going to try and join Mark at the Garden. The joint will be jumping that night. The locals will be rooting hard for Paulie to pull an upset. NYC boxing fans usually support a compelling underdog story.

Call me a fanboy, but I think Hatton would give Mayweather a good scrap. Collazo may have made Ricky look slow, but he also tasted the canvas against Mr. Hatton. Luis was also beaten by Shane Mosley, and is slated to face Sharmba Mitchell in September in an IBF JMW eliminator. Ricky is a former world welterweight titlist, and I'm just not convinced that it should be a foregone conclusion that he can't be successful at 147. Besides, I just want SOMEONE to take Pretty Boy Floyd down. He is a first class jerk IMO.

I only believe that Mayweather will only lose at JMW or MW.

HATTON - COTTO AT THE GARDEN.......

thats the best fight out there , dont get sucked in by the collazo fight ricky was unimpressive and sluggish it happens it did for cotto against torres . he had to climb of the floor yet ricky floored collazzo and still everyone uses thast fight as a reference point. to say castillo was there for an easy nights pay is a discredit to a great warrior. he has no money and desperatly needed to win or look good losing..... he did niether. it was a great win for ricky and quite simply he is the hottest ticket in boxing right know. Nobody wants to watch mayweather he is bad box office and how many fighters in the world can take 10 thousand fans to a stadium across the sea? he has a genuine chance against cotto mayweather would be his hardest fight but i think moseley and delahoya would be fights he could win but he should stay clear of a mallignaggi fight. if he was mexican or american you would be raving about him but lets face it boxing needs fighters like him at the moment and we all should embrace how exciting he is and the fact he wants to fight the best.

Cotto takes Hatton out in 4 to 5 rounds ... Cotto is just to big and strong for Hatton. I don't believe there is anyone who can take him at 140 but there are about 5 to 6 guys who could at 147. Problem is Hatton relies on the inside roughhousing tactics and the bigger guys at 147 wouldn't allow him to do that.

I like Hatton but I find it funny that the fanboys keep pointing out the flash knockdown in the first and not the fact that he lost 8 of the last 11 rounds.

Hatton's fight went exactly the same as Julio's fight against Quintana, the only difference is Julio was a big enough name yet to be given the decision.

I agree with Cotto handling Hatton pretty quick. I do think Ricky could give Floyd a Castillo like scare though.

Okay now remember this is my opinion and I have been swayed over to the Hatton fan club, so this isn't the usual "every fighter from England is overrated" type post I usually make.

If I am handling Hatton, the only fight I move up to WW for is Mayweather and even then it had better be for at least 10-15 million. He is undefeated and one bad loss over here in the states and he is back to Manchester. I believe there are 4-6 WW's who would handle him quite easily. Cotto, Williams, Mayweather, Cintron, Mosley and I hate to say this Margarito all dominate him IMO.

Meanwhile he stays at JWW and he dominates and stays unbeaten for at least another 4 to 5 years. This strategy has worked for Calzaghe he has 1) avoided big fights his whole career and 2) never thought about stepping up to LHW until now when there is someone in his division that would dominate him (Kessler). Fight Paulie, then try to lure up one of the Diaz triplets from LW. I hate advocating avoiding the bigger fights but he is really just too small to fight at WW and it just isn't worth taking a bad loss just for a huge payday when he can have multiple big payday's against JWW's.

Hatton vs. Juan Diaz is a huge fight waiting to happen and I think Hatton beats him.

good to see calzaghe busting up lacy hasnt changed your views.. ha ha .. trust me do not underestimate mr hatton.funnily enough i think mayweather is the last fight he should take but cotto should be his next. it would be a great fight and like i said earlier a real 50 50 . imo obviously............ i dont think cotto would beat mayweather either.

rickys route if i were his manager

1. cotto @ the garden.......... strike the usa market while he is hot win rsf rd 7
2. delahoya @ wembley wpts
3. judah vegas wpts
4. mayweather vegas lpts

retire happy

mh26 to join official hatton fan club for 24.99 pounds and where his free ricky fatton t shirt when he goes to his local bar...tee hee

^ Interesting AZZA but I think Oscar would stop Hatton. He'd be too big & strong & Oscar wouldn't have the same trouble finding or landing on Ricky that Oscar did with Floyd.
