I wouldn't be said if he gets in, but I thoroughly see the logic in keeping him out. |

...the present "PED" issues aside (and as Jason Moyer pointed out, Rose was no stranger to those), Pete Rose committed the single greatest, inexcusable, sin a baseball player (or manager) can commit. A sin that threatens the sanctity of a fair, legitimate, game. You don't see the big deal? I'm not all that surprised.

His stats stand for themselves. He earned his inclusion among the greats of the game. This isn't some Ron Santo we're talking about, this is Pete Freakin' Rose. It's a shame that the all time hits leader is blackballed by Bud Selig. Too bad Selig is so determined to ruin the game of Baseball.

Dola..
Every report I have ever seen talks about Rose betting when he managed, never have I seen them talk about his playing days. So ok, ban him from the game. But he earned his HOF status |

He was banned from baseball when Selig was still selling cars in Milwaukee. |

I agree that Rose should be in the hall of fame for his numbers and still banned from managing. However, I see how that could be a bit of a contradiction. Pete Rose should never be allowed back in baseball and I really doubt we'll see Pete rose in the Hall of Fame until after he is dead. He has lied in the past and is probably still lying now. As far as Bud Selig ruining baseball, baseball seems to be doing pretty well to me. In fact, I think Selig is leaving baseball better than when he recieved it.

Selig has repeatedly kept him out of the HOF though since becoming Commish.

No, he's just not repealed Giamatti's decision to ban him from baseball. For that, I applaud Bud. And I am a Twins fan who despises him for trying to take away my baseball team. The "Selig Smashers" has been my fantasy team name for years now.

Dola,
Can we just bump the old Rose threads before this turns into an eight page PUT HIM IN v KEEP HIM OUT debate?

If Pete Rose isn't in the HOF you might as well let Ron Santo in because the entire thing is crapped on.

No just someone who looks at Ron Santo's stats and see a really good player but not a HOF player

Ron Santo is a Hall of Fame third baseman.
