A .258 EQA isn't league average for a 2B/SS. Neither is the .270 EQA Scutaro posted last year, when you adjust for the DH. But you're point about 31 year old's coming off a career best season, see Gary Matthews, Jr, is well taken.

I was going under the assumption that .262 EQA is league average, regarldess of position.

Either way, I'm not nearly as high on him as most people. Not even close.

Nah, a .260 EQA is average production leaguewide, but it's obviously going to mean a great deal of difference in value if it's Shannon Stewart performing at that level offensively versus Scutaro doing the same or better.

Kielty out for up to 6 weeks, from Rotoworld:

Bobby Kielty needs arthroscopic surgery on his left knee and will be sidelined for three-to-six weeks.

The A's can do without Kielty off the bench as long as Shannon Stewart is healthy. The Stewart signing had already made him a weaker $1 pick in AL-only leagues. Kielty is very effective against lefties, but it was still going to be tough to find at-bats for him.

Hey, at the rate we're going, Hiram Bocchachica, anyone?

Really, depth is good. DEPTH IS GOOD.

I think all this really does is improve Rule V pick Ryan Goleski's chances of sticking with the big club.

Bocachica isn't on the 40 man roster, but I'm not certain if it's full or not right now either.

Anyone know who's third in the depth chart for CF? If Kotsay and Bradley are down at the same time, who plays center?

My guess is Swisher. I know he doesn't seem like the CF type but he played there quite a bit in the minors and college.

Doesn't sound like a good #3. Swisher has supposedly added 20+ lbs. of muscle over the offseason. Can't help his range in the OF.

Swisher also lost over 20lbs last year due to illness.

Well at least the offense has showed up so far today, too bad the pitching didn't.

I can't say I'm excited about Scott Dunn or Jason Windsor at this point [/smallsamplesize]

Aack. When asked when will Duke pitch, The article quoted Geren "Probably within a day or two. Soon."

You gotta love the A's depth, they'll need it this year.

Kotsay to have back surgery. -Out for 3 months. At least we're getting the injury bug out of the way.

What a damn joke. Shoulda gotten checked out as soon as the season was over so it would have been ready for this year.

Totally. But, better to do it now than in the middle of the season.

Looks like Goleski will make the team for sure.
