In most markets, the local sports channel is part of the standard cable package...so there's no extra cost beyond the $40 or whatever you're paying for cable in the first place.

Where it gets to be a pain is if you live in an area far enough away to the point where the "local" cable channel's not available, but you're still in MLB's "market":

You shouldnt have to pay again for the post season. You just can't watch games live, but you can watch them on archive. So in your case, it may be ok.

I thought you couldnt watch the playoffs at all.

While the service might not be perfect, it is the only major sport doing this, and it is very convinient for a lot of people. Just thought Id throw that in there...lol

Yea, I'm considering it because there are a load of pitchers and players I never get to watch on a consistent basis.

It's the only reason I enjoy watching the MLB All-Star Game. Few chances to watch the stars.

MLB is not like the NBA. There aren't very many games outside of your home team's on during the week.

You can watch the playoff archived games. They are up about 30 minutes after the game ends. You just can't watch them live. Same goes for Sunday night ESPN games.

I'm very amused to note that MLB considers La Crosse part of the Brewers local market even though it's on the Minnesota border and has more Twins fans than anything else.

I don't know about that? $19.99 a month it little too costly. I wonder if I can able to watch a CUBS game on mlb.com. I use to watch CUBS games on WGN TV just about everyday but not any more they cut down too many games.

In the middle of Iowa, we're the market for the Cubs, Sox, Cardinals, Twins, Royals, and Brewers. Basically, any team I'd have ANY interest in watching. (Specifically the Cubs).

So which ones is cheaper? both looks same. Baseball season play 7 months include spring training.

with premium you get coverage all the way until the next spring training, right? So you get coverage of the winter meetings, and things like that.

You also get to watch archived games all season long so if you miss any game (or its winter and want to catch up on some baseball) you can always watch.

However, last year they shut it off at the end of Nov even though the year before it was end of Feb. It appears this year Premium runs until the end of Feb, but I want to call first to make sure that's true.

I dont see anywhere on the site that says that the playoff games will be archived, but I really hope your right.

I wish there was an option to pay a little extra to watch local games, because I dont want to pay for cable, it is to expensive. I rent movies from netflix, and buy tv shows that I like on Itunes or watch them for free on some of the network's websites. So, cable is not a viable option for me, but it seems that if I want to watch the Yankees play, I have to fork over the money for cable tv to watch them. Unless the games are archived, and then can be watched. Is that the case, or will local teams not work at all?
