Excuse me. I thought that I presented a very balanced post, saying that A-Rod is certainly NOT the whole cause of Yankee demise, but agreeing that he must go because of his apparent lack of mental toughness.

FYI, I don't want Sheffield back either; I blamed him twice in my post for bad stuff, and I am tired of his "mystique of me" attitude.

And I dumped on the Yankees pitching staff, which one poster accurately, though a bit harshly, characterized as "little girl" quality.

Damon will snap back, as will Matsui. Cano will win the batting title some year. Other as yet unnamed Yankees will come back strong. I am merely pointing out that A-Rod should go for the reasons stated, much as I want Sheffield, Johnson, Wright, and Farnsworth to go for other reasons. And fuggedabout Pavano.

Alas, my man Williams will leave on his own accord, as the true Yankee that he is.

Right.

A-Rod needs to go, even though he had what everybody says is a down year. Jeter had one of the best seasons of his career, and it was barely better than A-Rod's bad season.

Jeter going 3 for 11 in the games the Yanks lost to Detroit sure doesn't help their chances either, but I think it's still right to blame A-Rod.

Even if Alex hit .500 in the playoffs, the Yanks would have been out in the first round. You can't win with two guys doing all the hitting.

pitching was god awful all the way around (except, maybe Proctor and Wang depending on how you look at it).

really, Jeter and Posada were the only thing going for us.

Detroit got stellar pitching from Rogers, Zumaya, and Bonderman. IMO, thats what did us in.
