The csv file that you should use is the CommishJoe exporter. That will yield the player.csv file that the program uses.

Ah, I see. I am just using the players_general.csv out of OOTP for mine.

While waiting for a definate answer I was searching for CommisJoe's exporter. Unfoturnatly I couldn't find a currently working link to d'load it.

Anyone have a link that works?

Or is it possible for Larry to modify the program to work with the v2006
"players_general.csv"?

Send me the file, sure.

Make sure the contents of the file contains the player's name and his ID.

Ok, I opened the "players_general.csv" file in MS office from v6.x and it does include name and id. I'll send you the file after I post this.

First column has the header "Nr", not sure why, but this is the player ID.

Example in my file

Code:
NR Last Name First Name etc..
2026 Annunziats Eric
637 Avera Forrest
If this works it would alleviate the problem of all of us that don't have CommishJoe's exporter trying to find it to run your great program.

I'll send you an email with the file, thanks for the great work.

Sweed

The players_general.csv should work fine.

I just looked at it and the layout is the same:

Field 1 = ID
Field 2 = Fname
Field 3 = Lname

The only differece is the " " around the names, but I remove that, so no matter.

If someone could zip up thier old league and put it where I can d/l it I will test it and see what the error is.

I did that. It asks me to save a setup.exe file to my hard drive after I click install. I do that, run the setup and it asks if I want to run an applications manifest. I click Ok, it connects to the internet and then I get the error message I posted above.

Ok, discovered the problem. This does not work through Firefox. When I went back and ran it through IE explorer, it installed fine.

How is it that someone from the OOTP boards is smart enough to make a program like this but Markus and the other people in charge are unable to do it?

Hello Markus it is time to start WORKING and doing what your customers want or someone ELSE will do it and you won't have a job anymore. See this thread as an example of what I am talking about.

Great job Larry, I hope Markus learns something from your work ethic!

Question - does it matter if the OOTP 2006 CSV is exported as comma or semicolon spaced?

Does not matter, I convert the commas to semi commas. Or semi-colons.

It took me about 3 hours to write this program, if not longer. I would rather have Markus spend three hours on features instead of this.

How do we know when the file is finished converting? It ran through a bunch of players and then stopped after about five minutes. The program seems frozen now, although my hard drive is still doing something. How long should this process take? Thanks!

It will pop up a message when it is done.

How long it takes depends on how big the league is.

I've zipped up the old exporter for those who want it. It still has Maelstrom references in the bat files, so you'll need to change those.
