....I'm sure the historical simmers will be clammoring for accurate times of death for all former players now deceased and will be expecting you to code an accurate engine to sim this too.

I'm not sure you want to open that can of worms....

Here's a prototype:

June 26, 1918

The baseball world mourns the loss of one of it's greatest stars. Jake Beckley ( .308 career BA, 2930 hits, 1575 RBI ) passed away yesterday in Kansas City, Missouri. He was 50. Beckley broke into the majors in 1888 with Pittsburgh, hitting .343 in 71 games. Perhaps his best season was 1894 when he hit .343, with 7 HR's and 120 RBI for the Pirates.

"He was so good at 'laying down' the ball that he had a trick of his own whereby he would flip the bat, grab the meat end of the club in his hands and bunt the ball perfectly with the handle of the bat."
— Ed O'Neill

so will we also have injuries that cause death during a players playing years? It does happen - How about an entire plane going down with a team on there - I mean you would think it would happen at least once (ala George talking to Keith Hernandez).
